Its long, stepped concrete terraces are one of the most distinctive examples of British modernist planning.
The estate features a fully pedestrian spine, south-facing dwellings, generous private terraces, and a layout that also functions as an acoustic barrier to the railway line.
In 1993 it became one of the first modern social housing projects in the UK to be granted Grade II listed status.
