🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image November 23: FIBONACCI DAY. It's an annual holiday that honors one of the most influential mathematicians of the Middle Ages, Leonardo Bonacci. image Fibonacci Day is celebrated on November 23rd to honor Italian mathematician Leonardo of Pisa (also known as Fibonacci) and his famous number sequence. image The date 11/23 was chosen because the digits 1,1,2,3 are the first four numbers in his sequence. Fibonacci is also celebrated for popularizing the Hindu-Arabic numeral system in Europe through his 1202 book, Liber Abaci. image Natural and mathematical significance: The day celebrates the sequence's appearance in many areas of nature, such as the arrangement of petals on flowers, the spirals in pinecones and sunflowers, and the structure of a nautilus shell. It also has significant mathematical applications. "Pure signal, no noise" Credits Goes to the respective Author ✍️/ Photographer📸 🐇 🕳️

🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image The book "The Man They Could Not Hang: The True Story of John Lee" by Mike Holgate (2005) is a non-fiction account detailing the true story of John Lee, a Victorian criminal who was convicted of murder. image The central event of the story, as recounted in the book, is that Lee was sentenced to death by hanging in Exeter Prison in 1885, but the execution failed three times because the mechanism of the gallows' trapdoor malfunctioned on each attempt. Following these failures, his sentence was commuted to life imprisonment. John Lee was an actual historical figure. He was found guilty of the murder of his employer, Emma Keyse. The book describes the extraordinary event where the gallows trapdoor failed to open three consecutive times when his execution was attempted. The central new finding in Holgate's book is the identification of structural faults in the gallows mechanism itself as the reason the executions failed, a conclusion drawn from the author's detailed research and analysis of the original gallows. Previous theories had often attributed the failure to divine intervention or coincidence. image Lee's life was spared. He was released from prison after serving 23 years, then married, abandoned his family, and disappeared, his final whereabouts being a subject of historical research and speculation. Holgate's investigation revealed that the gallows at Exeter Prison, specifically the trapdoor, was poorly maintained and structurally unsound due to a subtle yet critical flaw. The author reportedly worked with engineers to recreate the mechanism, demonstrating how the flaw prevented the trapdoor from opening reliably. By providing a rational, mechanical explanation, the book debunks the popular belief at the time that Lee's survival was an act of God, a view that contributed to his sentence being commuted to life imprisonment. The book uses this new information to highlight the potential for a miscarriage of justice in the initial trial and conviction, adding a new layer to the historical narrative of the case. 🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- THE DOOMSDAY DJ: TUNES FOR THE POST APOCALYPSE On this day in 1974, The Rolling Stones LP “It's Only Rock 'n Roll” went to #1 on the US Billboard 200 Albums Chart (November 23) It was the last Rolling Stones album to feature guitarist Mick Taylor. Taylor allegedly made songwriting contributions to this one, (as he claimed with the previous album “Goats Head Soup”), but on the album jacket, all original songs were credited to Jagger/Richards. Taylor said in 1997: "I did have a falling out with Mick Jagger over some songs I felt I should have been credited with co-writing on It's Only Rock 'n Roll. We were quite close friends and co-operated quite closely on getting that album made. By that time Mick and Keith weren't really working together as a team so I'd spend a lot of time in the studio." Jagger grudgingly admitted in a 1995 Rolling Stone interview about "Time Waits for No One" that Taylor "maybe threw in a couple of chords". Belgian painter Guy Peellaert did the cover art, and also did the cover for Bowie’s “Diamond Dogs” the same year. “It's Only Rock 'n Roll” marked the Stones' first effort in the producer's chair since “Their Satanic Majesties Request” in 1967, and the first for Jagger and Richards under their pseudonym "The Glimmer Twins". Ronnie Wood, a long-time acquaintance of the band, began to get closer to the Rolling Stones during the recording sessions after he invited Mick Taylor to play on his debut solo album, “I've Got My Own Album to Do”. Wood eventually became Taylor’s replacement in the Stones. The title track, which went on to become a staple of the band’s live set list, was recorded separately from the rest of the album. The basic rhythm track had been laid down by members of the Faces, including Wood and drummer Kenney Jones, during a jam session with Jagger, David Bowie, and bassist Willie Weeks. Jagger liked the song so much that he brought the basic track to Richards, who added some guitar overdubs, and after some polishing, it was put on the album as-is. Taylor, Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman are all featured miming playing the song in sailor suits in the video, but didn’t play on the actual recording! #rollingstones, #therollingstones, #micktaylor, #mickjagger, #keithrichards, #charliewatts, #itsonlyrockandroll, #classicalbum, #70srock, #70smusic, #rockmusic, #thisdayinrock, #dailyrockhistory, #thisdayinmusic, #onthisday, #rockhistory "Pure signal,no noise" Credits Goes to the respective Author ✍️/ Photographer📸 🐇 🕳️

🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- THE DOOMSDAY DJ: TUNES FOR THE POST APOCALYPSE "Free Bird" is also ranked #8 in Guitar World's list of 100 Greatest Guitar Solos. On this day in 1974, the Lynyrd Skynyrd single “Free Bird” debuted on the US Billboard Hot 100 at #87 (November 23) The song written by Allen Collins and Ronnie Van Zant featured on the legendary band's debut album in 1973, and went on to become their second Top 40 hit in early 1975, peaking at #19 on January 25. Skynyrd guitarist Collins wrote the chords years before, but had no melody to go with them. Then one day at rehearsal years later, Van Zant asked him to play those chords again, then wrote out the melody and lyrics in just a few minutes. Soon afterward, the band learned piano-playing roadie Billy Powell had written an introduction to the song; upon hearing it, they included it as the finishing touch and had him formally join as their keyboard player. Allen Collins's girlfriend, Kathy, whom he later married, asked him, "If I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me?" Collins noted the question and it eventually became the opening line of "Free Bird". In an interview Ronnie Van Zant was asked what the song meant. He replied that in essence the song is "what it means to be free, in that a bird can fly wherever he wants to go", and that "everyone wants to be free...that's what this country's all about". The song is dedicated to the memory of guitar legend Duane Allman (November 20, 1946 – October 29, 1971) by the band in their live shows. "Free Bird" is included in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll and at #407 in Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. #lynyrdskynyrd, #FreeBird, #RonnieVanZant, #duaneallman, #70smusic, #dailyrockhistory, #thisdayinmusic, #onthisday, #rockandrollhalloffame "Pure signal, no noise" Credits Goes to the respective Author ✍️/ Photographer📸 🐇 🕳️

To introduce it, the brand turned to Kobe Bryant, one of basketball’s most electrifying figures, and gave him the perfect stage. At the Los Angeles launch event, Kobe arrived in style, stepping out of the iconic time-traveling DeLorean from Back to the Future Part II. The moment is tied perfectly to the special “McFly” edition of the Hyperdunk, inspired by Marty McFly’s self-lacing Nike MAGs from the film. image It was more than just a sneaker reveal. It became a cultural crossover that blended Hollywood nostalgia with basketball innovation, instantly earning its place in sneaker history.
