Do you know what the Tropics are?
The Tropics are the region of Earth between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn.
Most of the world's population lives here, alongside extraordinary biological and cultural diversity. Tropical climates vary, but are typically warm with little seasonal change in temperature.
Yet the region faces mounting pressure from climate change, deforestation, urbanisation and changing demographics.
On #TropicsDay, learn why the Tropics matter for people and planet.

A tiny porpoise is sending a massive warning signal.
The vaquita lives only in one place on Earth: the Upper Gulf of California, in the Sea of Cortez. There are only about 10 left.
But this is not just about one species disappearing. The Sea of Cortez is one of the most important marine regions on the planet - home to extraordinary biodiversity, including 39% of the world’s marine mammal species and about one-third of the world’s cetacean species.
When the vaquita dies in illegal gillnets, it is not “nature taking its course.”
It is a human-made crisis.
And when a species this rare, this gentle, this ancient, is pushed to the edge, the ocean is telling us something:
The system is under stress.
The nets are not just catching vaquitas.
They are catching the future.
Protecting the vaquita means protecting the Sea of Cortez.
Protecting the Sea of Cortez means protecting fisheries, coastal communities, biodiversity, climate resilience, and the health of the wider ocean.
The heartbreaking part? The vaquita is not doomed if the killing stops. Scientists say recovery is still possible if gillnet deaths are halted.
So no, this is not hopeless.
It is urgent.
Remove illegal gillnets.
Enforce protected waters.
Support vaquita-safe fishing.
Protect the vaquita. Protect the ocean. Protect ourselves.

Theories of Language
1. STRUCTURALISM.
Structuralism views language as a system of different parts that function together. Words, sounds and grammar are all linked together, each giving meaning in relation to the others. This theory is about the structure of language not about the single words.
2. Functionalism
Language is explained by functionalism in terms of its function in communication. It considers how people use language to think, to talk and to relate to each other; to exchange information; to perform a range of social functions; and to develop and change language. The theory says that the best way to understand language is to look at the roles it plays in everyday life.
3. Generativism.
Generativism is a theory mostly developed by Noam Chomsky, who believes that humans possess an innate capacity to learn language. This suggests that there are universal language rules in the brain that enable children to learn any language naturally and quickly even with limited exposure.
4. Cognitive Theory
Cognitivism posits that language is intimately linked with thinking and mental processes. It says that learning a language involves memory, perception, problem solving and comprehension of concepts. Language development mirrors the evolution of human cognitive ability.
5. Experience
According to empiricism, language is acquired through experience and interaction with the environment. This theory suggests that children learn language by hearing others speak, watching the world around them, and practicing speaking as they grow.
6. Behaviouralism
Behaviourism views language learning as a matter of imitation, repetition and reinforcement. Children learn words and sentence patterns by copying others, practicing sentences over and over again, and getting rewarded or praised when they use language correctly.
7. Formality
Formalism views language as a system of formal rules and structures. It is concerned with the formal structure of language (grammar, syntax) rather than the social or communicative functions of language. This theory is concerned with the structure of language, not with its use in the everyday communication.

Anger often feels like justice, but most of the time it becomes a prison we build for ourselves. The other person may have caused the pain, yet it is our own mind that keeps reliving it.
In Buddhism, anger is one of the three poisons because it clouds wisdom, steals inner peace, and leads to actions we later regret. Holding onto resentment does not punish the one who hurt you. It quietly punishes you every single day.
This does not mean accepting harmful behavior or refusing to set boundaries. It means refusing to let someone else's actions control your state of mind.
The strongest person is not the one who never feels anger, but the one who notices it, understands it, and lets it pass without becoming it.
When you choose compassion over resentment, you do not lose. You free yourself.

The bird that eats the ant today may one day become food for the ants. Life has a way of reminding us that power, wealth, and status are never permanent. Time changes every position.
In Buddhism, karma is not about instant reward or punishment. It is about the consequences of our intentions and actions unfolding over time. Every kind act plants the seeds of peace. Every harmful act plants the seeds of suffering.
So never use your strength to belittle others or your success to make someone feel small. Today's advantage can become tomorrow's lesson, and today's kindness can become tomorrow's blessing.
Be humble in success. Be patient in hardship. Be compassionate always.
Because in the end, what returns to you is not what you owned, but how you treated others.

Nihilism is a philosophical doctrine that life has no intrinsic meaning, purpose or objective value. It questions normal ideas of morality, religion, truth and existence.
Nihilism asserts that the universe does not provide a fixed purpose for human life and there are no universal values that are relevant to everyone.
On the other hand, many of the meanings that people follow are thought to be human inventions not absolute truths.
Existential nihilism, the form of nihilism that is most common, states that human life has no purpose predetermined. Another is moral nihilism, the view that there are no objective standards of right and wrong. Nihilism is closely linked with the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche.
He cautioned against the danger of nihilism arising from the erosion of old creeds but he encouraged individuals to forge their own values and find their own meaning instead of giving way to despondency.
There has been a profound impact of nihilism in philosophy and literature.
There are many novels where the main character struggles with issues of meaning, identity and existence. Although nihilism does not believe in any sense of purpose for one’s life, it still makes one question his own beliefs and values.

Assessment and Types of Assessment
An assessment is the act of gathering information about a learner's learning, knowledge, skills and performance.
Assessments allow educators to have an idea of what the learners know, how well they learn and where their weaknesses lie.
An assessment is one of the crucial processes in education because it is used in guiding instruction, providing feedback and measuring the progress of education.
The major types of assessment, including a diagnostic assessment that is done before instruction to find out the learners' level of previous learning and their learning needs; formative assessment that is done throughout instruction to measure the learners' progress ,summative assessment that is done after a lesson, unit or course to measure the learners' achievements using tests and exams, and criterion-reference assessment that involves assessing a learner based on the learning objectives and not on other learners.

True education is not measured by how much information you can repeat. It is measured by your willingness to question, examine, and discover the truth for yourself.
The Buddha never asked people to accept his teachings blindly. He encouraged investigation, direct experience, and wisdom over belief. A mind that only repeats what it has been told remains confined. A mind that asks thoughtful questions begins to grow.
Critical thinking is not rebellion. It is the courage to separate truth from assumption, knowledge from opinion, and wisdom from habit.
Do not fear questioning your beliefs. Fear living your entire life without ever examining them.
