🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image Wasps and bees may look similar at first, but they are quite different insects. One of the easiest ways to tell them apart is by their body shape. Wasps generally have slender, smooth-looking bodies with a narrow waist, while bees usually have rounder, fuzzier bodies covered with tiny hairs. These physical differences are useful clues when trying to identify them outdoors. Their diets are also different. Many wasps are carnivorous and feed on other insects, spiders, or animal-based foods. Some wasps also eat sugary substances such as nectar and fruit. Bees mainly depend on plant-based food, especially nectar and pollen. Nectar provides bees with energy, while pollen supplies important nutrients that help support the colony. Another major difference is their stingers. Wasps generally have smooth stingers, which means they can sting more than once. Bees, particularly honeybees, have barbed stingers that can become lodged in the skin after a sting. Because of this, a honeybee usually cannot sting repeatedly in the same way a wasp can. However, not every bee species has exactly the same type of stinger. Wasps and bees also play different roles in nature, although both are important. Wasps are well known as predators and help control populations of insects and other small creatures. Some wasps also contribute to pollination. Bees are especially important pollinators because they move between flowers while collecting nectar and pollen. This helps many plants reproduce and supports ecosystems and agriculture. Their behaviour can vary depending on the species and situation. Wasps are often considered more defensive and may become aggressive when their nests are disturbed. Bees are generally focused on collecting food and protecting their colonies rather than seeking conflict. However, bees can also sting when they feel threatened. So, while “aggressive wasp” and “docile bee” are common descriptions, neither applies perfectly to every species. Both insects have important jobs in nature, and understanding their differences can help us identify and appreciate them. 🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image Born on this date, October 11, 1946 in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, American singer/songwriter Daryl Hall (born Daryl Franklin Hohl) best known as half of mega successful pop duo Hall & Oates with John Oates. image Hall & Oates are one of the most successful duos in pop music selling in excess of 40 million records along with 34 chart hit singles, seven platinum albums, and six gold albums. They were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in April 2014. Hall is the duo's principal writer and lead singer. Hall came from a musical family. Both his parents were voice teachers who worked with choirs. He first met Oates at the Adelphi Ballroom in Philadelphia in 1967 when the tow were in competing groups. Both were attending Philadelphia's Temple University. Hall was by then a senior, while Oates was a freshman. Hall was already working sporadically at Gamble & Huff's recording studio and would soon join the short-lived band Gulliver. After that, Hall and Oates decided to pursue a career as a duo, signing with Atlantic Records in 1972. Their debut album Whole Oats failed to garner much attention however their second album, Abandoned Luncheonette, produced by Arif Mardin and released in 1973, yielded the single, "She's Gone". The follow up, War Babies, bombed but in 1975 the scored a top 10 hit single with "Sara Smile" from their 1975 self-titled album. The next album, Bigger Than Both Of Us, gave them their first of six $1 singles with "Rich Girl". The group continued scoring an impressive list of albums and hit singles, along the way switching to RCA Records and crafting a distinctive "blue-eyed soul" style. In the late 70s, the duo experienced a lean period before roaring back to the charts. During that time, Hall recorded his first solo album. In 1977, RCA attempted to push Hall to the fore with his first solo effort Sacred Songs. However, after being presented with the highly experimental recording (produced by Robert Fripp of King Crimson), RCA became unwilling to release what was, in their view, a non-commercial album. "Sacred Songs" was eventually released in 1980. What the album revealed was an experimental side to Hall's career and a willingness to challenge his pop image. Hall made an album with Eurythmics' Dave Stewart, Three Hearts In The Happy Ending Machine, which yielded his #5 solo single "Dreamtime". He has recorded such solo works as Soul Alone in 1993 and Can't Stop Dreaming in 1996, both of which were received well internationally. In 1994 composed "Gloryland" that was the official song of the 1994 FIFA World Cup. He continued to pursue collaborations and recordings while still maintaining his role in Hall & Oates. In addition, he created a company to restore old historic homes in the US and UK. Hall hosted the 2014 television show Daryl's Restoration Over-Hall on the DIY Network which showed him and a crew working on restoring one of his homes in Connecticut. image Since 2007, Hall has hosted the online show/webcast Live From Daryl's House which features live music acts in a podcast/videocast first from his home in Millertown, New York and more recently from his club Daryl's House in Pawling, New York. Live From Daryl's House has played host to a who's who of musical guests from a variety of genres and yielded some memorable collaborations. Hall said of the webcast, "For me it was sort of an obvious thing. I've been touring my whole adult life really, and, you know, you can't be EVERYWHERE! Nor do I WANT to be everywhere at this point! I only like to spend so much time per year on the road. So I thought 'Why don't I just do something where anyone who wants to see me anywhere in the world CAN?! And, instead of doing the artist/audience performance-type thing, I wanted to deconstruct it and make the audience more of a fly-on-the-wall kind of observer... I mean, what I've always done onstage is very natural. I talk to the audience and it's a very sitting-roomy kind of thing. So I just thought I'd basically bring that to the web." In November 2023, Hall filed a lawsuit against Oates and his trust due to contractual and financial disputes; the details of the case were initially confidential. Hall additionally issued a restraining order against Oates in the wake of the charges. The following week, Hall filed a declaration accusing Oates of "the ultimate partnership betrayal" for planning to sell Oates' share of the duo's publishing to Primary Wave Music. Oates responded that Hall's statements were "inflammatory, outlandish, and inaccurate". In April 2024, Oates said in an interview with Rolling Stone that he had "moved on" from Hall and Oates and that the duo would never perform together again, with Hall confirming the same a month later in an interview with Variety. The case was ultimately settled through mediation. "Pure signal, no noise" Credits Goes to the respective Author ✍️/ Photographer📸 🐇 🕳️

🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image (Frontman of the soul/disco band Hot Chocolate) Singer Errol Brown his wife ginette Brown, With a Cadillac Singer of Hot Chocolate, the British soul band best known for the 1975 disco anthem You Sexy Thing; the group's funky and harmonious sound was defined by Brown's seductive voice and charismatic stage presence. Lead singer Errol Brown wrote this about his wife Ginette. It was the first happy song he wrote - he had always written sad songs before. Errol Brown, who came to England from Jamaica with his mother when he was young, formed Hot Chocolate in London with Tony Wilson in 1969. They recorded a reggae version of "Give Peace A Chance" that got the attention of John Lennon, who released the single on The Beatles' Apple Records. This led to a deal with Mickie Most, who signed them to his RAK label. The pair wrote "Bet Yer Life I Do," which was recorded by Herman's Hermits and hit UK #22. They had their first UK hit of their own with "Love Is Life," then went on to a string of UK hits, including a #1 in 1977 with "So You Win Again." Hot Chocolate were produced by Mickie Most, who released this track on his RAK Records label. Most, however, didn't see the hit potential in this song and put it out as the B-side of a ballad called "Blue Night." That same week, Most produced a song for his band The Arrows called "I Love Rock And Roll," and released that as the B-side of their song "Broken Down Heart." In our interview with Alan Merrill of The Arrows, he explained that Most was in his "blue period" (an allusion to Pablo Picasso), and was really into ballads. "You Sexy Thing" turned out to be a huge hit, but "I Love Rock And Roll" would have to wait 7 years to realize its potential when Joan Jett took the song to #1. 🎶 "Pure signal, no noise" Credits Goes to the respective Author ✍️/ Photographer📸 🐇 🕳️

In doing so, Bushby became the first known person in modern history to walk across the Bering Strait sea ice — and the first person to swim the Caspian Sea. 🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image The Sea Ranch Chapel in California was designed as a serene retreat for ceremonies and meditation 🐚 image Perched on the Northern California coast, the chapel was completed in 1985 in memory of Kirk Ditzler, an artist and zoologist who believed art could bridge the physical and spiritual worlds. His sketches and ideas became an important source of inspiration for the chapel’s original concept. Artist and architectural designer James Hubbell brought that vision to life, using local stone and slate for the chapel’s base. Above it, a sweeping roof of cedar shingles and copper curves overhead, evoking the form of a sea snail shell or unfolding flower petals. image Inside, rich redwood and teak create a warm, organic atmosphere. The plaster ceiling is embedded with real seashells and sea urchins gathered from nearby beaches, bringing the surrounding landscape into the space. image Remarkably, the chapel was built without conventional technical blueprints. Instead, Hubbell and a team of local craftsmen worked directly on site, using a small hand-built model as their guide and shaping the structure by hand. image Today, the Sea Ranch Chapel remains open to the public year-round. 🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image The Waldspirale is the name of a residential building complex in Darmstadt, Germany built in the 1990s. The name translates into English as spiral forest, reflecting both the general plan of the building and the fact that it has a green roof. It was designed by Viennese artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, built by the Bauverein Darmstadt company, and planned and implemented by the architect Heinz M. Springmann. The building was completed in 2000. The Waldspirale apartment building is located in Darmstadt's Bürgerparkviertel. It contains 105 apartments, a parking garage, a kiosk as well as a café and a bar (the last two being located at the top of the spiral). The inner courtyard contains a playground for the children of the residents and a small artificial lake. Peculiarities of the U-shaped building are the unique facade, which does not follow a regular grid organization, and the windows, which appear as if they were "aus der Reihe tanzen," (dancing out of line) everywhere different and appearing out of order, often with 'tree tenants' - trees growing out from the windows. The diagonal roof, planted with grass, shrubs, flowers and trees, rises like a ramp along the U-form. At its highest point, the building has 12 floors. 📷 ✨ by @bokehm0n [IG] "Pure signal, no noise" Credits Goes to the respective Author ✍️/ Photographer📸 🐇 🕳️
