🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image The fountain ballerina, whose skirt is made of water, is a magic that is worth seeing with your own eyes. Sculptor Malgoshata Khodakowska (Poland) This is not just a sculpture..... This is ballet frozen in bronze and brought to life by water. When the fountain is turned on, the water streams form a lush, light skirt, as if the ballerina is twirling in the air. 🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image Taxi drivers delivered the death telegrams for the Army in 1965, and one wife changed it In 1965, taxi drivers delivered the death telegrams for the Army. 🚕 After the Battle of Ia Drang, the Army had not set up an adequate system to notify families when a soldier was killed. THE PROBLEM The telegrams were handed to taxi cab drivers for delivery. THE WIFE Julie Moore, wife of Lt. Col. Hal Moore, rode along with the drivers. She helped with the notifications, comforted widows and families, and attended the funerals of the men under her husband's command. THE CHANGE Her complaints reached the Pentagon. The Army set up notification teams made up of a uniformed officer and a chaplain. Those teams are still in use today. THE FILM The movie We Were Soldiers shows her delivering the telegrams herself. She didn't. She rode along to comfort the families. THE LEGACY In 2005, the Army created the Julia Compton Moore Award for civilian spouses. Did you know how families were first told? 🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image Discipline is not punishment. It is freedom from future regret. The modern samurai understands that discipline is a choice made today for the person you want to become tomorrow. Train when you don't feel like it. Do what needs to be done. Keep the promises you make to yourself. Choose what matters over what feels good in the moment. Discipline demands sacrifice today. Regret can last a lifetime. Every disciplined choice is a step toward freedom. Master yourself and you master the world. Phil Mogg: "I didn't even want to make a live album. At that point the band was so up and down, depending on who'd been doing what. Wine, women and song was our priority, in that order. Suppose they recorded a dodgy night? Strangers in the Night has a lot of vigour and strut. As a doubting Thomas that didn't want to do it, I was very, very wrong." 🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image “It is a narrow mind which cannot look at a subject from various points of view.” This insight from George Eliot’s Middlemarch captures one of the novel’s deepest moral principles: wisdom begins when we become capable of seeing beyond our own perspective. It is easy to understand the world from the position we occupy. The greater challenge is to imagine how the same situation might appear through another person’s fears, experiences, desires, disappointments, and limitations. That idea lies at the heart of Middlemarch. George Eliot rarely allows us to judge her characters from a comfortable distance. Just when someone appears selfish, foolish, proud, or disappointing, she brings us closer to that person’s inner life. We begin to see the hopes beneath the mistakes, the insecurities beneath the pride, and the private struggles hidden behind outward behavior. Eliot understood that human beings naturally place themselves at the center of their own stories. We know the reasons behind our choices because we have access to our own thoughts. We remember the circumstances that influenced us. We know when we were frightened, confused, exhausted, or misunderstood. But when judging another person, we often see only the final action. That imbalance can make judgment dangerously easy. To look at something from “various points of view” does not mean believing that every opinion is equally correct or that harmful actions should never be criticized. Rather, it means refusing to mistake our limited knowledge for complete understanding. We can disagree with someone while still trying to understand how they arrived at their position. We can recognize wrongdoing without reducing an entire human being to a single mistake. This is one reason Middlemarch feels remarkably modern. We live in an age where opinions are formed quickly and expressed publicly. A sentence, photograph, headline, or brief moment can become enough for thousands of people to decide exactly who someone is. Social media often rewards certainty more than curiosity and outrage more than reflection. Yet reality is usually more complicated than the version that fits neatly into a post or argument. Eliot asks for something harder: intellectual humility and imaginative sympathy. Perhaps the mature mind is not the one that possesses an immediate answer to everything. Perhaps it is the mind capable of saying, “There may be something here that I have not yet understood.” That small admission can transform relationships. Many conflicts become more complicated when we genuinely attempt to see them from the other side. The person we considered cold may have been protecting themselves. The person we thought arrogant may have been insecure. The decision that seemed incomprehensible may have emerged from circumstances we never knew existed. We may still disagree. But understanding changes the quality of disagreement. And perhaps that is Eliot’s enduring lesson: a wider perspective does not weaken our judgment; it makes our judgment more humane. Before deciding that another person is entirely wrong, foolish, or impossible to understand, perhaps the better question is: #GeorgeEliot #Middlemarch #LiteraryQuotes #ClassicLiterature #WordsOfWisdom "Pure signal, no noise" Credits Goes to the respective Author ✍️/ Photographer📸 🐇 🕳️

🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image "Moon River" by ©Koh Murao Born in Tokyo, Japan, on 1977. "𝗞𝗼𝗵 𝗠𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗼" discovered his love for sketching comic book characters at a very young age, and at nine he began painting lessons. He later continued his studies in Illustration and Design at Tama Art University in Tokyo. His work draws inspiration from early childhood memories of rural landscapes, picture books, and so on. He enjoys playing with allegory and often places characters in fantasy worlds reminiscent of the fables he loved as a boy. Other inspiration come from modern art, especially Surrealism. His greatest satisfaction comes from observing his influence on viewers who are moved to invent stories inspired by the work. Murao has previously exhibited in Tokyo, New York and has recieved several awards, including: Nika Design Award Special Prize ; Mainichi Advertising Design Competition Encouragement Prize ; Chiba Design Award Special Prize ; NY Coo Gallery Open Art Contest Choice Award. Currently he lives in Japan. "Pure signal, no noise" Credits Goes to the respective Author ✍️/ Photographer📸 🐇 🕳️

🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- Marine Life in The Philippines & S.E. Asia. and the World. Post #311 : image Orcas and whales are often spoken about as two different groups, but there is an interesting connection between them. Orcas, also known as killer whales, are actually the largest members of the dolphin family. Other whales belong to several different groups and can vary greatly in size, appearance, diet and behaviour. This means an orca is technically a dolphin, even though its common name includes the word “whale.” One major difference is their teeth and feeding methods. Orcas have strong, sharp teeth that they use to catch and eat fish, seals, seabirds and other marine animals. They are skilled hunters and often work together as a group to catch prey. Many large whales, particularly baleen whales, do not have teeth. Instead, they have baleen plates that act like filters, allowing them to collect huge amounts of small organisms such as krill and tiny fish from seawater. Their hunting behaviour is another clear difference. Orcas are highly social animals and are famous for cooperative hunting. Different members of a pod can work together using coordinated movements and communication. Many other whale species have different feeding habits and may search for food alone, although some whale species also form groups depending on the situation. Orcas are also known for their speed and powerful swimming abilities. Their streamlined bodies allow them to move quickly while chasing prey. Other whales vary considerably in swimming speed, with some species capable of impressive bursts of speed even though they generally move more slowly during normal travel and feeding. Breathing is another easy way to notice a difference. Orcas have a single blowhole on top of their heads because they are dolphins. Baleen whales such as humpback whales, blue whales and right whales have two blowholes. Finally, their rol es in the ocean differ. Orcas are apex predators that can hunt a wide variety of marine animals, while many baleen whales are filter feeders. Despite these differences, both play important roles in marine ecosystems.
