Coming into the final week before term starts and I can attempt to question the indoctrination process, “it’s been a while since they let me loose on first years…..” (note, not in a creepy way). Walking into work and felt uneasy taking the photo, but made a statement about the UK, the traditions next to the reality of a country that is not working. The progressives may say the homeless need money, but the realists/bitcoiners will say we need to fix the money so they never get to this position in the first place. Heading out for my weekly “chat” before putting off prep for next week (I like the idea of just going a little rogue), then some paper reviewing. Not that exciting, but once work is done, kid to swimming and then I continue with the book!!! #coffeechain

GM Nostriches, yesterday was a very good day, time with my mother, talking my daughter back from the ledge while buying new school shoes, two very good meals out, cake baked (by daughter and mother) AND a bike ride. Maybe a high bar for today to live up to, but already dressed in my biking clothes, ready to get the kid out into what looks like a better weather than yesterday..... Really unsure how may mother deals with some of my opinions on the world, like me, she is very much what one would have called a liberal in the 90's, but while I appreciate how my views may have developed, I'm unsure how she connects with the group she used to view as her's. But on the plus side, when I present my views of what is happening in the US, IE, if you don't want to agitate some pretty wild ICE guys, probably better you stay at home, and definitely don't drive towards someone with a gun, she was still able to see the logic in the argument (the left is a long way from capturing her!) #coffeechain to start, then fix breakfast for ma and kid, then we bike........ oh fuck, I should have looked outside before getting ahead of myself......... hmmm, maybe it's a good time to work on the book!

Hopefully a calm day ahead, eldest off for a night hike this evening, she’s made of sterner stuff than me, but get some extra time with her in the car, followed by some extra podcasting time in the car on the way back. Storming into chapter 9 of the book, started with a couple of opening quotes for select chapters, now have most chapters covered. Latest addition to the bibliography, Croesus and the yuppy elite helping me not have to just make up quotes!!!! Gm nostriches, grabbing a final morning #coffeechain with frosty feed in the backyard, taking moment to think about this moment in time in 2009. What was Satoshi doing this time 17 years ago; -Frantically finishing code after releasing the genesis block -Wondering if he set the initial difficulty too high and would have to start again -looking around for more cpus to run Bitcoin to mine that first block 3rd of Jan was the point he wanted to release or the times headline was simply timely so he went with it. Unsure any mining was actually done for a few days after but would be really interesting to know how long that initial block took to mine, because the second block took 1.30, so mining was set low ready for the difficulty adjustment to do its thing. Thinking back in that year the think I was finalising some MAJOR revisions on an initially crappy masters thesis, but would have been wild to stumble across this corner of the internet at this time, but I would have fluffed it, so happy it took a few more years for it to click for me. Happy to make up for lost time ever since it clicked.

Gm nostriches and happy new year. Time to reset, make some resolutions to be broken but with consistency, your routines may already be set and simply maintained. Stay humble AND stack sats. Get exercise, eat more steam and give attention to your sleep schedule. Simples. First of the month 10k, which for the sake of my hips may be reduced to only a monthly 5k, combined with a little more biking. At least managed to hit some personal records on the way. Time for #coffeechain no.3 I reckon.

Gm Nostriches, feeling like I may have just survived the most of the Christmas carnage, catching some quiet moments with #coffeechain and #catstr before another “family day” (in-laws primarily) begins……. Today’s torture, going to find a gravestone of a distant relative that my sister in law will continually say “there’s no way that’s them” to which I reply, “unless you’re completely illogical and the fact they nearly share a name is that his son took over from him” 🤦‍♂️ Building myself up for a little #runstr to cleanse some of the raging annoyance from my system.
