Just saw a student with a bitcoin medallion, turned around and said “nice necklace” wondering whether I should have gone and given him a hug. But maybe not appropriate for a lecturer to be doing such things.

Gm nostriches, happy Friday to all those able to keep a level head, and even those who can’t but at least express themselves through memes!!!! In a corner of the work I do, I’m fascinated about what inflation but also hyperinflation is, money printing is the cause we can see but sometimes it doesn’t cause the effect (are there sinks for that extra money to go?). News headlines like this point to another angle, before the money printing is needed. International supply issues, if the UK can’t get diesel, we’re cooked, for the diesel remaining 🚀, panic buying, further price rises, break down of supply of other goods, and hyperinflation or somewhere close is at our doors (serious cooking takes place for all measures of inflation), hmmm, what did the fed just do?!?!? This is wild. Also interesting that this story on a British wrench attack is now surfacing, after taking place on the 13th of December….. preparing us for more? Custodying crypto for our safety? I wouldn’t put anything past them. Anyway, teaching this morning, maybe grab a newly retired colleague who I shared “why so serious” with ( Thinks I should make it into an op ed….. now to learn what an “op-ed” actually is but also how I share it under a name other than Dug.

If out of nowhere, the dollar hyperinflated against Bitcoin terms, we’d move from $84k to $126k. 😳 It hadn’t happened for a while, but putting such a move into the context of where we are, kinda worth a moment’s consideration. Then let’s be a bulltard, a 50% month at this point in the cycle is super unlikely, but a 20% monthly more would take us right back to $100k. Interesting times ahead. View article →

Heading out, riding my bike, no motor this week, just a bit of hero dirt under the tyres, and a sneaky pastry from Lidl to fuel me at the mid way point!!!! image

Cheers Andy, thanks for yesterday’s news. Did you also hear that Bitcoin will make central banking and central bankers obsolete? Yeah, any plans for a career move, because I’m not sure you legacy from this role will look kindly on you! image

Need to find some better photos of the latest useless British PM, at least some of the stuff he says is super funny. So, did I hear Spain and France would be happy to welcome the UK back? Unsurprising when their finances, even with a community wide currency fueled with Germany’s exports, even if they are falling, are having their bond markets well and truly tested. 1.32% increase, ytd, holy crap. If you think the uk is a clown show, they would fit right in to the Euro Circus. 🎪 so Uk, how would you describe your current financial position?

Gm nostriches, happy Thursday. After meeting up with a friend who will be enjoying his first day of retirement today, and some fiat mine requests that had to be pushed back on ( the idea of moving on from the educational clown show is very appealing. I’m not sure I’m ready for a break from routine, but love the idea of just looking around for new work based experiences to get involved with (even being the white, English speaking deliveroo rider). Yeah, I may not be seeding the Bitcoin revolution, would need to work on the fam to up sticks and travel the world (damn you @Daniel Prince ) but it is all so appealing. Saying that, some of the writing/reading/research I was doing yesterday was pretty interesting (likely to be the next job), but putting all that shit aside, it’s just exploded in my head, “did you get a retirement present?” “Yes, I bought myself a dog.” Sounds fucking awesome. 🐶 Happy Thursday freaks, #coffeechain after a pretty good sleep, #bikestr to be ridden, porridge ready for the eldest and youngest still stoked to be riding her new bike to school. image

Just casually hanging out at 5.415% on the 10y gilt at which point I think about my union member colleague, who spoke about my father and brother as “the other” Brexit voting type, doing his mortgage in, and how this particular colleague didn’t mind paying taxes, as he’s just upsized to a bigger house and while I can’t be sure, I’m confident he voted Labour. I take a moment and wonder how long his fixed rate mortgage has to run, because when it’s time to renew, holy crap, as @Simon Dixon might say, “that ain’t no asset buddy, that loan is a liability around your neck and that big old house ain’t getting any younger so is it really ever going to go up in value. In the game of money, you are getting played like a fiddle”. Simon never said that, but like I was able to put in a #gameofmoney hat tip!!!! image

The idea that this RAF “incident” was or wasn’t an actual event is intriguing…… the farmer spoiled a complete false flag on an airbase being used by the US, but now making a 999 call before the farmer noticed them….. a) proper weird, but b) if this was staged, were these guys just Patzis in a bigger plan? This final suggestion might indeed explain why these fellas got released on bail (because there wasn’t much evidence against them) and the dinghy slasher is in custody until his hearing in March. Wild times freaks, you’re probably not stacking hard enough, you needed to reach your goal during the lows of the summer. Broken Britain Gm. image

Gm nostriches, Hmmm, so I can now move to Portugal without having to save €500k to get myself a high net worth visa? Ngl, the world will be burning by this point, but least the winters will be mild and the wine and fish fairly priced!!!! image

After completely failing when they attempted to remove the “temporary” winter fuel allowance from the pensioners last year, they appear to think removing this (while totally unaffordable) favoured promise for the older voting cohort, will A) get any support for their fucking useless quota back benchers who will, with near certainly, lose their seats at the next election And B) they will have any chance of winning any portion of the pensioners vote….. Guess this social care, but also what they plan to offer the benefits class will be mighty, while coming out of the magic money tree to really persuade the younguns to get out and use their vote. Well that or just keep going on their current trajectory and go full commie by cancelling all up coming elections. Good times. image

“Austria’s reconstruction was compared to the experiment made by the fully to teach his horse to do without food. When he got it down to a straw a day, the horse died” when money dies. The Labour government would be wise and prudent to read the Weimar horrors and prepare themselves for their likely future. The horse (the uk economy) is in the process of dying, but they continue on taking more and more away (tax rather than food in the gipsy example) image

Ga nostriches, anyone wondering how state level bitcoin adoption in the UK, the chancellor of the exchequer just referred to Nigel Farage as “Liz Truss with a Bitcoin account”. 🤔 If he thought as clearly a Liz and wasn’t scuppered by the Bank of England, even without the Bitcoin angle, that puts Nigel ahead of this pack of clowns. After what Emily Thornberry said about asset seizure (taking empty homes), a self custodied digital asset has never been so valuable in the UK at any point before now. Prepare accordingly, things are going to get fucking wild. image

Gm nostriches, weekend survived and into the week, hopefully catching up with a now ex colleague who managed to jump ship on the latest round of “mutually agreed resignation scheme” offers. While he’s only been away a week or so, hoping he doesn’t make life on the other side look too appealing. Then back to “the stage” to perform for the final year students again, this time, attempting to get a group of 20-22 year olds, who have probably not read that much (on average), to appreciate the opportunity they have and the value they can get from really beginning to read around a topic……. “Yo studies, even wondered what money actually is? Or why it’s always worth less?” Uphill battle, very early start with the worrying “#catstr meow” that often means a beastie has been brought in side, deep breath and into the breech. Proper harvest moon I reckon. image

#theweek doing their best to stoke up the anti data centre sentiment…… good luck making it economical in the Uk with our energy prices , but maybe the “water consumption fear” may help use get a very wet country into a state where our water actually works and isn’t full of sewerage. After all the piece @Margot Paez / jyn urso wrote destroying the UN piece of land mass use and Bitcoin, as soon as a piece says “UN researchers” did anything, may response is get some proper research done you lazy toads.
