Study history freaks, keep an eye out for the signals but also, stay private. They will be looking for scapegoats.

Back home, sorting some minor stuff before heading into work. Think I’ve pretty much achieved everything I need to for the day and definitely feeling much less “medium” than when the day started!!! Home alone while the fam are in London, bonsai ready to be attacked, and a very sensible dinner just bought. #shortribstr, fasted since around 7 last night, a bit of slow roasting and I’ll be at 24 hours. Have a wonderful evening nostr fam.

Gm nostriches, sorting some early morning crepes to fuel the eldest, as the three of them head to London for a night to meet up with some fam, muggins here has work to do……. Now, wellbeing research or hyperinflation?!?!? So what to do with a free evening……. Well, the sneaky beer at a pub on the way home from work was one idea, but fasting until a big steak for dinner with a side of trimming the bonsai tree just sorta feels right. Taking the evening to sit back, restore the mind and then restore the body maybe before a quick bike ride the following morning before heading into work tomorrow. As a hobbit once said, “why not?” Oh, youngest comes down and then wants different pancakes……. I get to do this, and wouldn’t have it any other way. #coffeechain

Lecture this afternoon on a topic most students aren’t that interested in (quants methods), so attendance may be through the floor, but have some useful things to add to hopefully give some students alpha to those who actually attend. Not going to stop me getting out with the little dog, some pumpkin carving before stopping in on the Zoo on the way back…… and result of the day, got both bikes to fit into the boot/trunk, so everything can be locked up while to see the little Painted Dog and maybe find the new vulture shaped arrival. Now to get the kids moving.

One kid doing homework, the other making a lemon meringue pie, me headed out in the rain with the hound. Good times. Just messing around, doing things at our own pace and enjoying some relaxed company.

Unsure how long the weather will stay dry meaning likelihood of getting the kids out in the Welsh hills on two wheels may be low, but that can simply mean some time making a Pie with Grandma, so always a plus side. While it may not look quite like this half an hour later, the hills are certainly drawing me towards them, so #coffeechain nearly done, biking clothes ready and I’ll be off, maybe even get back before the small people descend the stairs from their Saturday morning slumber…….. love it when they get to catch up and don’t want to lock in to the tv straight away.

Gm nostriches, happy Friday and just a half day for me, before heading over the country with the kids and bikes in the auto to provide care and company for the mother……. And the teenager wanting some space from HER mother…….. Got a bonsai a little while back, looked dead, was nearly thrown away, but a little Google and a little care and the “green shoots” started to appear. Then took the clipper to her and tidied things up…… then, after a karate kid reference to the fam, absolutely not a coincidence, I’m saying providence or serendipity, moved back to #chooselife and there, clear a day on the beginning of the next chapter, a Mr Miyagi quote. Well played @Daniel Prince keeping my belief that the science we were talking about doesn’t even scratch the surface. Choosing life this weekend and going to share the good word with my students in video I’m going to riff for them this morning.

Day ahead, I “get to” spend with the youngest who is already off school, maybe bring her along for the weekly day off shopping trip and then maybe a little bike riding. What are we on, less than two months since I wrote this piece and Paris, Limoge and Marseilles are literally burning, guessing I got my last chance to see Paris as it was. Amazing how quickly things can change and fascinating thinking about where we could be in another two months……. Here we go…… But saying this, the Parisians couple still prioritising the finer things in life, as Brits did in the blitz, they can just carry on. I wonder if I could do the same, I would at least know that as the country and the city I live burned, my money would be safe, and maybe when there was a lull in hostilities, I’d quietly exit stage left……. By that I mean head to my country bolt hole (mother’s house)
