🔬 Hey #DocChain Thank you for your great interest in MedSchlr. Here is a more updated draft description on what’s being built considering all the engagement and valuable feedback provided so far.🙏 MedSchlr: A Decentralized Health and Medical Information Publishing Repository Powered by Alexandria from @GitCitadel Estimated Genesis: Block 890, 915 Created by health professionals and researchers, health advocates, Bitcoiners, and @GitCitadel Abstract The Problem: Currently, finding reliable health and medical information online is challenging. Search engines often show biased results influenced by third parties, and many health and medical related databases are controlled by entities with their own interests. While there have been attempts to create open access health and medical information repositories, they still rely on traditional internet platforms that can control what information people see. The Technology: MedSchlr is built on two key technologies: 1) Alexandria - This is a specialized editor and generator for creating and sharing long-form content using the Nostr protocol. Source: https://alexandria.gitcitadel.eu Using an instance of Alexandria to build MedSchlr, allows for the creation of an interactive health and medical information repository. 2) Nostr (Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays) - This is an open protocol that enables truly decentralized communication. Unlike traditional platforms, nostr allows users to share information without relying on any central authority. It works through a network of relay servers that help transmit messages, making it resistant to censorship and control. Key Pairs and Authentication - Users have public-private key pairs that allow them to sign their notes cryptographically. This ensures that all shared information can be verified as coming from legitimate sources, while allowing users to maintain control over their identity and content. source: By leveraging Alexandria and nostr, we can directly minimize the problems of centralized control and biased information in healthcare. Nostr's decentralized protocol ensures that no single entity can control or censor health and medical information, while Alexandria's specialized platform enables the creation of more open and interactive content. This combination creates a resilient system where health and medical knowledge can be shared freely and transparently. Solution: MedSchlr Using Alexandria and nostr, we're building an app where: A) Open source historical and current published health-related and medical information (articles, books, blogs etc.) is available with interactive features for reader engagement and commenting B) Users can publish, find, and read credible health and medical writings such as habla.news/u/kamoweasel@primal.net and C) Educational health and medical content and videos, blogs, etc. are easily accessible D) User profile types (badges) to distinguish note publisher credentials to add a layer of social trust E) Healthcare professionals/researchers can raise funding for health and medical research as well as initiatives through zaps Our goal is to create a decentralized, censorship-resistant app that broadens access to health and medical knowledge. By combining open protocols with peer review/social trust mechanisms, we aim to build a resource where healthcare professionals and users can collaborate, share quality information, and advance health and medical understanding minimizing interference from centralized authorities or commercial interests. App Development Timeline MedSchlr is currently participating in the Nosfabrica challenge to kickstart initial development. Development is occurring incrementally thus starting with a MVP and then evolving from there. If you haven't indicated interest already and are interested in contributing to this project, please note your interest by May 1st, 2025. Future Vision Looking ahead, we envision Medschlr evolving to revolutionize how health and medical knowledge is published, shared, reviewed and interpreted with. Future iterations could transform the traditional peer review process by: - Reducing bureaucratic barriers while maintaining rigorous scientific standards - Creating more transparent review processes - Minimizing institutional bias - Enabling faster dissemination of important and health and medical findings -Engaging various users types This reimagined approach to publishing could help accelerate the advancement of health and medical knowledge while maintaining the highest standards of scientific integrity.

The Nosfabrica team @Vitor Pamplona @Avi Burra @Jon Gordon is currently running the SALUD Decentralized Health App Development Challenge, focussing on decentralizing healthcare and health information. Currently a team of us is developing, MedSchlr, an innovative app designed to decentralize medical and health knowledge sharing and publishing using Nostr Alexandria. We are actively seeking health professionals to join our team! Your clinical and/or research expertise and insights would be invaluable in ensuring MedSchlr meets real-world needs and maintains high standards. Interested in joining the MedSchlr team? Send the Nosfabrica team or Emma a note or message by May 1st, 2025. More info on the challenge - SALUD Decentralized Health App Development Challenge:

Reading old health texts pre-1900s, some things are so wrong but some observations are so right…. “Fear….It takes from him reflection, power, resolution and judgment; and in short all that dignity and greatness of soul… It has great influence on occasioning, aggravating and producing disease.” - Gunn’s Domestic Medicine (1836) If we cared to promote health in our environments we would reduce fear appeals in media and take a constructive approach to communicating problems in a way that engenders a sense of agency that we can overcome. nostr provides a beautiful protocol that allows us to overcome the tendency to stoke fear and exchange ideas in thoughtful discourse. Is it perfect no but it presents a meaningful alternative. Thankful for all of the developers and content creators who are moving this bright future ahead. Freedom tech helps us move beyond fear.

Does anyone have any good book recommendations or reading material that examines the importance of having standards in communication or value exchange? I am exploring the benefits of universal measurement systems like for time and how they have helped society in value exchange etc. I would like to make the same arguments for money.

I recently gave a presentation about Bitcoin to an academic audience highlighting the disparity of wages/incomes and houses prices in a western setting. A comment was made about sticky prices and wages. If I am understanding the theory correctly house prices for example are more sensitive to economic changes and wages in contrast lag. If this is indeed true then doesn’t this mean that inflation is bad then? As a non-economist, to me it seems clear that on a Bitcoin standard wages paid in bitcoin would rise overtime and prices would fall due to deflation and the monetary premium of things such as houses would go down thus reducing the disparity between wages and house prices. Would sticky prices in wages/income still be a concern in a Bitcoinized world if we do get there? Trying to understand this better as I refine my presentations on Bitcoin. image

It can be nerve wracking to share your story and views when it feels like very few people from your discipline or field of study may not see things the same way. I had the opportunity yesterday to sit down with an awesome podcaster to share some of my thoughts. I hope to get better at conveying my ideas to contribute to larger conversations on how we can improve health an social well-being at individual and population levels. Bitcoin as a fundamental socioeconomic base layer provides an opportunity to restore incentives in the health and social sectors. What does health care and associated systems look like on a Bitcoin standard? I don’t fully know but given the principles of Bitcoin, it brings power back to the individual and necessary goods and services may be more decentralized providing more choice. Also, communities may be able to build better and thrive around their core values.

Are you involved in or know of any Bitcoin mining projects in the Caribbean? Or developing a conceptual framework on how one would be implemented in a local context within the region? If so, consider submitting an abstract to the 2024 Canadian Caribbean Institute Research symposium. I would be happy to help draft an abstract showcasing your work to highlight any of the following: How Bitcoin incentivizes use of renewable energy; 2) stabilizes energy grids etc; 3) Potential benefits that could contribute to community resilience especially in the face of natural disasters etc.; The abstract deadline is close so for anyone who is interested in a collab we would need to connect soon. Feel free to DM me here. Let’s engage in the discourse on climate change to show how Bitcoin can help redress the way we think about climate, energy, and sustainability. image

Accidentally zapped myself not realizing that the zap button on primal is so automatic once loaded with sats. Time to zap three random people to make up for the three self zaps. Learning new tech is fun but also requires patience, experimentation, and error correction.
