our baby snake is 4 months old today 🥳 TIL of a long-standing family tradition of 收涎, literally translated as "anti-drooling ceremony. the idea is that babies stop drooling when they grow up so everyone getting together to find ways to soak up all the baby's drool early should make them grow up faster.

the waters are warmer in taiwan fishing waters so the tuna aren't carrying as much fat (and also smaller) when they get caught, but still delicious. the daily catch is auctioned off and processed each day at fish markets around the island, the largest in Pingtung County (dongkang)
