Wife and I are ex-evangelicals (unconverted independetly, before we met each other). Apparently there is an minor rapture panic going on in some evangelical circles. "Oh no honey what if fire insurance actually works? Who will take care of the dog?"

You should trust engineers to build things. Outside of that, they are not to be trusted to: Manage a product, define market-fit features, or tell you when it is done (to an engineer, the product is never done). Accurately assess the need to work on a problem they are personally obsessed with. Engineers and devs are not gods. Not heroes. They are human computers we haven't obsoleted yet.
