Watch the Painted Shack owners shopping at our Bitcoin Ekasi Thrift Shop 🧡 They don’t cash out their sats to fiat they use Bitcoin as money. This is Bitcoin education in action: paying with Bitcoin at local spaza shops that accept it. That’s exactly what we teach. We also encourage them to spread the word and invite others, even those without painted shacks, to visit our thrift shop. We’re Bitcoin-only. We’ll keep building Bitcoin education in our community. ⚡️

Bitcoin is everyday money in our community. 🧡 Andries, Head Coach, at The Surfer Kids did shopping for the kids at Jabulani Shop, paid entirely with Bitcoin via the Lightning Network. ⚡️ We’ll keep showing the world what Bitcoin can do at the grassroots level. Good morning. Spending sats is a gateway to saving Bitcoin. Stablecoins are financial surveillance and exploitation tools. That's all. Thanks!

We have more followers on Nostr than on X but we get significantly more interactions on X; likes, reposts and comments, though I'm sure a lot of those are bots. Anyway, just figured that's kinda interesting.

At our thrift store, community members 'buy' donated clothes using Bitcoin, but nothing is priced higher than 200 sats, and nothing is pricedin fiat. This is how Bitcoin wins: by helping people understand it, through practical application. Once they experience it, they see that Bitcoin is money. And we’re already seeing the shift… Because people are asking how they can start saving in Bitcoin. 🧡₿

The Painted Shacks owners continue to visit our Bitcoin Ekasi Center to learn more about Bitcoin. As part of their agreement, they are responsible for keeping the areas around their shacks clean and attending at least one Bitcoin education session each month in order to qualify for their monthly sats payout.

This afternoon, two young children aged 12 and 14 found themselves caught in a strong rip current, here at Diaz Beach. With lifeguards not yet on duty for the festive season, there was no one on the beach to assist them. Fortunately, our three senior coaches (Sandiso Ntosho, Mbasa Yabo and Lukhangele Tabata, pictured below) spotted the children from our HQ. They reacted immediately, made their way to the beach, and within minutes managed to bring both children safely back to shore. All our coaches are qualified lifeguards, and when our program is not running, we continue to keep a close eye on the beach to help prevent drownings and ensure its a safe environment. This is one of many MANY incidents we’ve responded to over the years. The local government only stations lifeguards on select beaches and only during peak season, about 2 months out of the year. The other 10 months, countless people get in trouble, and other than our surf program, there's generally no one else there to help. All our surf coaches are fully qualified lifeguards and over the years we've battled with local government to contribute towards having lifeguards formally stationed here full-time. But thanks to bureaucracy, that hasn't happened. In the meantime, we'll keep saving lives. It's not about recognition, it's about doing the right thing. These young men are unsung heroes. image

Arriving home to this view, after a weekend away traveling... There are many things I could complain about. But really, I have nothing to complain about. image

Spent the weekend at @Afribit Kibera and @ Bitcoin Chama , in Kenya 🇰🇪 Both fantastic projects! This is an ongoing effort to better understand the emergence of Bitcoin Circular Economies in Africa. Cannot summarize it all in a single post, but if you're gonna be at either @Africa Bitcoin Conference or @Adopting Bitcoin Cape Town, we'll address this topic there! Thank you to @Machankura 📞⚡ 8333.mobi for helping make this trip happen! WARNING: This video contains an animal (chicken) slaughter. If that makes you queasy, don't watch it.

For the past three months @jasonb and his family volunteered with us. They came all the way from Ohio, USA, to join our work in Mossel Bay, South Africa, and saw up close both the challenges and the progress happening in our community. They supported our youth programs on a daily basis, helping kids build real skills through Bitcoin-based financial education and related projects. They also spent time with local merchants and witnessed how circulating hard money is strengthening small businesses in the township. Their observations reinforced what we see every day: consistent, grassroots work creates meaningful change. We highly appreciate their time, effort, and the perspective they brought to our project. Thank you Jason and family!!! If you have any questions for Jason regarding this experience, please reach out to him: jasonbohio@gmail.com image

What an epic day at Innerpool, Mossel Bay! 🌊🏄‍♂️ The Surfer Kids wrapped up their 4th and final contest of the year, and we were blessed with amazing waves. The groms and adults absolutely shredded — the level of surfing was out of this world! 🤩 🏆 Our winners took home some awesome prizes in sats, and the Surfer of the Contest scored a custom board from Sean Newton Designs, fully paid for in sats. 🤙🔥 Next year we’re coming back bigger and better — you don’t want to miss it!

Super stoked for @npub1y77f...dd2m the Orange Rocket! He finished an overall 39th (out of 193) in the men's 30-34 age division at today's IRONMAN 70.3 in Mossel Bay!!! Not the top 10 finish he was aiming for, but still a great result, despite some unfortunate bicycle issues that cost him valuable time. And a remarkable improvement from 2024, with an overall time difference of 59min faster in 2025 and 156th place overall, vs. 638th place in 2024. We're very fortunate to have him on our team as a senior coach and lifesaving instructor, he's inspiration to the kids! Excited to see where this journey takes him! No doubt he'll go much further! @Frank Corva Old Account @Joe Nakamoto @Machankura 📞⚡ 8333.mobi @Bitcoin Witsand 🧡🔥🚀🌍😎
