Watched Dawn of the dead (2004), a horror movie directed by Zac Snyder. A mysterious disease turns the world population into very fast and aggressive zombies. A small group of survivors take shelter in a huge mall in the suburbs. The group tries to fortify the mall and preserve a sense of normalcy while the undead are outside. The group is led by a nurse and a calm police officer. They soon realize the fortress won't hold and have to organize a daring escape. This is an amazing movie. Action packed from the beginning to the end. The zombies are disgusting. The internal conflicts that the survivors face are believable. The cast and acting are great. I always enjoy Zac Snyder movies. Definitely a rewatch. I would say a classic even. This is a remake of a 1978 movie of the same title. Haven't seen it yet. On my list 8.5/10 #nodereviews
Watched Hellraiser (2022), a body horror directed by David Bruckner. A young drug addict finds an ancient puzzle box and unwillingly summons the Cenobites, demons from another dimension who view pain as great pleasure. Her brother disappears after interacting with the puzzle box. The heroine has to solve the puzzle box in different configurations and find blood sacrifices to try and save her brother. She goes through multiple betrayals from a hedonistic millionaire. She then discovers the true nature of the Cenobites' presents. This remake was excellent. It really maintained the feel of the original, with the puzzles. The new versions of the Cenobites are well executed. Pinhead and the others are nightmarish, just like in the original. This one will definitely be a rewatch as well. 8.1/10 #nodereviews
Watched Hellraiser (1987) a body horror directed by Clive Barker. After solving a mysterious puzzle a hedonist (Frank) is tortured by the Cenobites, demons from another dimension who can provide extreme pleasure and pain. Years later, Larry, the hedonist's brother moves into the same house. A drop of his blood inadvertently resurrects Frank as a skinless skeletal being lurking in the attic. To escape the Cenobites, Frank takes advantage his ex (also Larry's wife) into luring men to the house to be sacrificed. Great story. Special effects are better than in a lot of movies today. Make-up, effects, creatures are top notch. The Cenobites are incredible, especially Pinhead. Gory but not psychological scary. Great horror movie. Definitely in the rewatch category. 8.2/10 #nodereviews
