One of my siblings is going through a very difficult time mentally. She has my empathy and my full support. I’m here for her. This role is nothing new to me. None of this is happening for the first time. And it’s not new either that the whole family’s attention shifts to this person. How I’m doing, what I’m up to, what I’m thinking about, none of that seems to interest anyone in my family. It used to get to me. Now, I’m relieved to realize that it no longer bothers me. I can look at the whole situation with a certain gentleness. It seems my ego has finally made peace with it. Still, attention and appreciation feel good. I made pear sauce with the pears I was given. I always freeze it in small containers, so I have just the amount I need for a day and nothing goes to waste. I also made a pear, potato and goat’s cheese gratin for lunch. Tomorrow, I’ll use the remaining pears to bake a cake that @EllieNorrellavis recommended 🤍 #foodstr

As a teacher, I regularly have to look at photos of missing children. I hate it. There is something deeply revealing in their eyes. There is nothing I can do for these children.
