I like freedom. I like the orange coin. I'm a purveyor of sovereignty with nostr:nprofile1qqs9v5v8trgum5msr6cd82j3r77mhj94sk0adcp2232sdy65srusmdqpzdmhxue69uhhqatjwpkx2urpvuhx2ue0l39fwr
International banking sucks. So much so that I decided to use @Hodl Hodl to convert from THB to BTC to EUR, instead of just making a transfer Unfortunately, the experience wasn't great today. I easily converted THB to BTC, using the same seller as usual. But after, I had to cancel 2 trades: - First one because the buyer pretended to have sent the money, and tried to send me to a third party platform, to "accept" the funds... - Second one because the seller wouldn't honor their own rate from HodlHodl, trying to haggle a better deal for themselves... I guess I should have been more careful picking up an offer. I mostly looked at the price. But their success rate was not in the 90s. And they'd made very few trades. I'm still learning. But I wasted so much time on this. And I haven't managed to convert from BTC to EUR, yet. Plus, the price of Bitcoin is falling down, so I may lose on that, too, and not even get the amount I planned for in the first place. On to the next. #banking #banksucks #bitcoin #hodlhodl #cross-border
Hey, second report that I can't read on #amethyst - I think there's an issue with links. Maybe the anchors are replaced by the link preview. Not sure if the post or the client is at fault, but that's not readable.
Yesterday, I finished reading Hidden Repression by @gladstein The foreword by @Jeff Booth hit me hard! My 2 favorite quotes: "[W]e've created a world that requires people to literally gamble on where to place their money to avoid it losing its purchasing power, and then we wonder why our world looks the way it does." "The rule of law doesn't protect citizens from the manipulation of money." Then, Alex's text was easy to read. But it was quite short (or it felt like it, as I read it quickly). The content mostly enraged me, and I couldn't sleep afterward. I'm still reeling from the experience. What's most astonishing to me is that the IMF and WB are getting away with such a shocking and disturbing behavior, under the guise of benevolence or security. It's all just a facade for neocolonial exploitation. And most people in the West are completely oblivious to it. Why aren't more people talking about this? Why aren't we demanding change? The final chapter felt slightly off to me. I understand the intention was likely to conclude on a hopeful note, and to introduce Bitcoin as the peaceful solution. But it felt somewhat disconnected from the previous chapters. And it makes me hesitant to share the book with skeptical friends and family. They'll probably dismiss the book's important messages because of it. But all in all, great book, and highly recommended. image #bookstr #bitcoin #hiddenrepression #imf #worldbank
I'm studying CompactSeedQR, and I'm having a hard time recovering the sample seed phrase from the QR... Now reading: Let's take the 12-word CompactSeedQR: image Using zxing.org, I get: image How do I go from this to the binary (and ultimately the 12 words)? The note that the QR decoder may return more data than the compact seed itself is not really helping... I guess I should truncate it, maybe... #asknostr #seedsigner #seedqr #compactseedqr
I just learned about the use of FGC-9 in Myanmar, and how people built this 3D-printed gun with no regulated firearm parts to protect themselves 🤯 Fun fact: The gun's name is an initialism for "Fuck Gun Control", with the "9" referencing its 9mm cartridge. Listen to WBD902:
Made my first #bitcoin onchain payment in a while. Because Lightning didn't work on silent.link It was cheap and fast, luckily. But it reduced my channel size... So, I'd rather avoid that in the future!
Kept myself busy with #bitcoin learning on this Saturday, June 21. Love that date 😅 Set up my first multi-sig wallet using Electrum. And restored it in Sparrow. Just realized why Ledger isn't great for this - can't confirm the receiving address on the device 🤦‍♂️ Also, Electrum isn't using BIP39 (I was playing with a hot wallet for the testing). So, not simple to import into Sparrow. Followed guides from @BTC Sessions and @QnA 🙏 Next: actually make a 2-of-3 wallet I can use!
Since @Block Open Source made a Windows version of Goose, I decided to try it this week. Super simple: 1. Download 2. Unzip 3. Launch the exe file Setting up the LLM provider was easy, too. I used Venice AI API, for which I had a $10 credit I had never used. Then launch the platform. And it just works. I could select different models, at different prices. I tried the sample prompt "what can you do" and it listed over 100 stuff... Most of them didn't make sense as a non dev. But useful, I'm sure. It cost like $0.07. I tried to make a simple static website with several pages, but I didn't expect the result I got. It seems it was a command to paste in the terminal... It didn't actually create the files in the folder I had selected. It cost $0.02. Not sure if I'll keep using it for my needs. But looked nice.
