Two (out of several) interesting points from Karpathy’s latest post on vibe coding “I rapidly went from about 80% manual+autocomplete coding and 20% agents in November to 80% agent coding and 20% edits+touchups in December… This is easily the biggest change to my basic coding workflow in ~2 decades of programming and it happened over the course of a few weeks” “I didn't anticipate that with agents programming feels *more* fun because a lot of the fill in the blanks drudgery is removed and what remains is the creative part. I also feel less blocked/stuck (which is not fun) and I experience a lot more courage because there's almost always a way to work hand in hand with it to make some positive progress.”

Vibe coded my first actually helpful thing (for me personally) in the last day, with help from @Justin Moon via Claude code desktop I made an app that rips YouTube videos (or any video file) and auto-hardcodes really good captions and gives you a nice little file ready for sharing on social. Really fast. Vibe-coded a nice chrome extension for it as well. My sense is 90% of the vibe coding posting stuff and slop on social is hugely exaggerated (“one-shotting”) but that in a matter of hours a non-technical person can accomplish some really interesting stuff, esp if they can get some advice from a good coder And this will only get more crazy in 6 and 12 and 18 months… Huge implications for scaling activism and empowering the individual
