I wanted to tinker with RSS bots, to get updates from my favorite rugby team, Stade Toulousain, without going to Facebook. A weird thing happened to me during the weekend. I was at a quiz night, organized by friends, with only mutuals. One if the categories was: Right or racist? For those unfamiliar, it's a party game with questions that test players' assumptions about stereotypes, with players deciding if a statement is factually correct ("right") or based on racist beliefs ("racist"). I had a couple of friends of friends in my team. And they were proudly saying they were racist, from the get go. As in: "yeah, we moved from that place because too many Muslims." Or trying to answer every question with: "the Jews, because of the Jews." For the record, I had a friend from Israel in my team. And the MC was Muslim... Anyway, I don't know if it's now fashionable to be racist, or if they were pulling everyone's leg, but that was fucking weird. I kept my mouth shut, BTW. Maybe should have said something, but didn't want to ruin the night. Our team didn't even make it to the end. And we were last. It wasn't fun.

I've got a theory about the nonsense in the UK, and why it’s coming to you soon. People don’t have the time, or the energy, to defend free speech anymore. Or even think for themselves. So they let the state do it for them. They want to be safe. Protected. Cared for. But that protection comes with a price: our speech, our privacy, our autonomy. Now the UK government wants to break encryption. They want to end anonymity online. They’re calling dissent “harm.” They’re silencing their people in the name of “safety.” And people are letting it happen, mostly. Because thinking is hard. Standing up is harder. Free speech isn’t free. It requires citizens who care. Who act. Who refuse to outsource their minds. But in a fiat world? We’re too tired, too broke, too distracted to fight. Well, my server was under attack. First time since 2017. Took me a few hours to fix (not my usual thing), but I got it done with some help from #AI. Kinda proud of myself, NGL.
