Guess who just won the train lottery against all odds? Gambled on 2 delayed trains not gaining 1 minute against each other and it actually worked because I rode the bike along the platform at the station again. image View quoted note →

First ride back to my old flat isn't going well. Missed by first connecting train due to navigation issues, wasted 120€ on express trains and now I'm stuck with local trains and 4 different connections that I must get, giving me just 3 hours for work in the old flat. 😶

Old vs new. I'm a total newbie when it comes to actually work with my hands. Let's see if it's stable enough to endure winter. Going to order my firewood soon. Will probably mount the tarps onto the house before it gets windier but this works for now. Then I can stack the wood more and gain better insulation on the sides of the house. Also cleaned up the path, started a small compost and put the garden furniture under a tree. It's robust but why expose it to rain and snow if there's an alternative. Better than before is my main goal right now. Onwards.

So this is how you get rid of old wood you no longer need on the countryside. Old kitchens, garden chairs, bad firewood, everything. 🔥 image .

Still thinking of these wonderful Falafel I had yesterday while down in town. Never would've expected to eat something this delicious in a plain falafel place in a small town. image

Glad I never felt comfortable with @SimpleX Chat. Found the way it handles group chats intolerable, the apps I used (Android, macOS) were slow and clunky. Hopeful for some alternatives. The closer to nostr the better because nostr people are weiry of shitcoins.

My employer’s sales guy made another in-person appointment with a client inspite of our agreement to ask me first and now he already confirmed everything with the customer as if I had already agreed. Why do people work like this? What’s so difficult about sticking to agreements? Fucking fiat mine.

Another 9kg up the mountain! Wasn’t even that hard this time. Found a great route that shortens my ride by about 1,5km. Had to get off the bike at just one short steep climb because I couldn’t get sufficient grip in the mud. I haven’t felt this fit in years. View quoted note →

I can use my Sonos speakers as Airplay receivers. Never noticed that before. Watching conspiracy content with great sounds just makes it more fun.

Blackseed Oil is some magic potion. Once I apply it to any part of my body that icks, pains, bleeds, is dry, burnt or feels somewhat irritated, whatever it was just disappears after a few hours up to a few days. Thanks Barbara O’Neill.

TIL that wood that looks damp/wet isn’t necessarily so inside. Once you split it apart, you can easily dry the outer parts and store them somewhere dry.

Of all the things I'm thankful for in development terms of cloud-native software stacks, I’ll never forgive the people who invented the mess that is helm. It’s just pain every day.

Bootstrapping myself for a more outdoor life is quite expensive. Just finished my order for a headlamp, some tarps, a rain cover for my backpack, cheap leather working gloves, some thermometers, double-sided heavy duty adhesive, firewood and a splitting axe. Haven’t even looked into more weather-resistant clothing and proper boots yet. I love this shit. Feels to utterly right.

So what's the state of RISC V minicomputers that are similarly sized as a recent Raspberry Pi? Anything that’s already useable?

Quorthon of Bathory fame (the band, not the lady) did some of his most artsy work during his Viking era.
