The teardrop isn't made of steel though. 🥲 > The sculpture comprises a 100-foot (30 m) bronze-clad tower split with a jagged opening in the middle, in which hangs a 40-foot (12 m)-tall nickel-surfaced teardrop.[ View quoted note →

Buffy seasons 5-7 are on a completely different level when it comes to emotional depth and character development. The previous seasons laid a lot of ground work for all they built upon. It's so much more than a coming of age vampire action show. Love everything about it.

Are you paying for extended AppleCare coverage for your devices after the initial 3 year AppleCare coverage is gone?

I don't get DiVine just as Vine didn’t click with me. I like some of the performative stuff on TiKtok but I mainly use it for conspiracy/rabbithole/spirituality stuff and some news. I’m not the target audience but I love seeing people use nostr, even if they don’t know it yet.

I can’t believe these people are being paid to say and publish such nonsense. What does “iPhone 17 can entice consumers to upgrade" even mean? Why else would Apple keep on releasing new iPhones anually? What’s so special about the iPhone 17 that people would buy it instead of a Pixel or Samsung? > Still, some device manufacturers have found ways to entice consumers to ditch their older phones for newer ones. For instance, Apple just had one of its most successful new launches with the iPhone 17, and artificial intelligence could be a game-changer. Apple’s AI is considered sub-par in comparision to its Android counterparts. > While squeezing as much life out of your device as possible may save money in the short run, especially amid widespread fears about the strength of the consumer and job market, it might cost the economy in the long run, especially when device hoarding occurs at the level of corporations. WTF. > “Think about how much internet speeds have changed in the past decade or more. In the 2010s, 100MB speeds were considered high speed and very good. A short 10 years later and we’re operating at 1GB speeds, which is roughly 10 times faster,” […] 100MB(/s) speed would equal 1Gbit. How many consumers actually have Internet connectivity with 1GB(/s) speeds? How can such idiocy come from the CEO of a company producing hardware that’s network-capable? > “Those devices were engineered when no one could fathom speeds that much faster would be mainstream” lol sure > “Both the cellular and internet infrastructure has to operate to be backwards compatible in order to support the older, slower devices. Networks often have to throttle back their speeds in order to accommodate the slowest device…” Ancient WiFi standards physically throttled the entire available WiFi bandwidth based on the slowest device but this is about mobile networks. I can’t even finish reading this drivel. At least it wasn’t written by some AI because even the dumbest 7b model run via ollama wouldn’t come up with such inaccurate bullshit. View quoted note →

The Nazis also tore down many old world buildings. We didn’t lose everything to allied bombing raids on civilians. Look at this atrocity in comparision. (Goes without saying that all surrounding buildings no longer exist today.) Look at the inside of this station. Is there any country left where something like this is still being built today?
