I don't live in an English-speaking country and there is some concern that there are so many children of foreign parents that those children might not learn the local language properly, making schooling and just co-existing much harder. I just heard a woman speak severely broken English with a child so chances are that communication-wise, that kid'll be seven kinds of messed up by the time it stabs its first teacher 😄

If you submerge shredded plant material in hot water to produce a beverage, we call that "tea". Unless said material comes from a coffee tree, then we treat it like an entirely different world.

"If it were fun, they wouldn't pay us to do it" - I don't understand why my enjoyment of it would render a good or service I provide worthless. I've never enjoyed any job for more than, say, half an hour a month, even though I work in a field in which I'm rather good, doing something I'm usually quite fond of. But for some reason most people I work with, given two or more options, insist on spending more money and time than necessary to produce a product worse than it otherwise could be. Their lines of argument, of course, are always such that any faulty assumption, minor wrinkle, made-up scenario, or hastily added specification they can grab onto will serve as justification to go with the option they had already picked beforehand, and any counter-argument is simply dismissed as unimportant or "an edge case". I call this method "arguing backwards", from the pre-ordained conclusion to poorly thought out arguments, using not reason or logic but power, authority, and the simple act of annoying your opponent into submission just so they wouldn't be subjected to any further garbled nonsense. It's not as easy for me to switch careers as when I last did it ten years ago but either this recession that's been going on for a cool 25 years ends soon, or I'll start over yet again. I know nobody cares about what I think but feel free to leave a comment telling me what a big wuss I am 😄
