Dunbars Number refers to the idea that that humans are evolved to live in groups of 150 or less. Above that, we require abstractions like money to cooperate with strangers by reducing the need for trust. Bitcoin does that better than any other money in human history. I love the id a of living in a village with 149 other trusted individuals, but I also really enjoy internet access, air travel and the majority of babies living to maturity. So I’m gunna go with the best money I can access to facilitate a better life. https://fountain.fm/episode/mSfIOYljySwT7b3GlNcK image

It’s is possible that Bitcoin is simply marginally better money, not perfect money. It’s possible it only forces governments to behave marginally better towards their people. Maybe that is enough for now.

Closed out my Bitcoin position to rotate capital into Nee-Doh. It’s a sure bet. Considering taking leverage. IYKYK image

In retrospect, the marketing budget for hww manufacturers doesn’t make any sense. You sell a device for a couple hundred dollars. At best you sell two at a time every few years. You have to manufacture, market and distribute the device and your market cap is what? 20,000 hard core bitcoiners? Then you have to protect yourself from liability when something goes wrong. Seems like a terrible business. Either podcasters are cheap collectibles or there was always something else behind the business model. 🤷‍♂️

Why are there zero mainstream media stories about the cold card hack? Sus… This is the stuff movies are made of and no one is out there sensationalizing it?!

🚨 new Episode of Love & a hard Money 🚨 I recorded this last week before the current crisis. If you need a brain cleanser and a reminder of why we’re all committed to this fight even when it gets hard, this is a good one. Much love to everyone who is hurting right now. May you come through it stronger. https://fountain.fm/episode/mSfIOYljySwT7b3GlNcK image

I don’t know if this is possible, but here’s the custody solution I want: 2 of 3 multi-sig where I hold 2 keys and the custody provider holds one. Their one should then be multi-party requiring at least two companies to verify me before signing. All three on different audited hardware. I want an empty security address pre-established that is a 3 of 5 with additional wallet types used. I want a duress key that I can activate with minimal friction that will sweep everything from my 2 of 3 into my 3 of 5. In that case I want the custody provider to still require multi-party, and one of them should verify me (or my heirs) in person. The 3 of 5 should also be time-locked so that it takes a predetermined amount of time (2-4 weeks?) to move funds. That would allow some geographic diversification of keys, without creating a time-based crisis). Custody provider also has a hot wallet on the same platform that allows me to pull from cold storage to my own spending wallet in limited amounts and with time delays. Hot wallet has ACH/wire/bill pay. Custody provider also offers 1:1 insurance of cold storage funds. Additionally they offer lending (including mortgage) on platform. Additional services: Buy/sell on platform. End of year tax forms. IRA’s. Trust accounts and built in inheritance. In person support for set up and trainings. 🤷‍♂️

Anyone else having really uncomfortable conversations with their wife this weekend? I’m beyond blessed that my setup appears to have dodged this attack, but I’ve never felt so exposed. I’m completely reassessing my set up and have been visibly stressed/distracted. I feel emotionally raw thinking of the people who have lost so much this week. I’m praying for each of you. My normally patient and trusting wife is starting to talk about “diversification” 🤢 and “maybe we should keep more in our savings account” 🤮. I am telling her that Bitcoin security will come out of this stronger than ever, but it’s also bringing to light some other things I’ve been putting off like estate planning. She didn’t seem pleased when I pointed out that our business is a far bigger liability for her if I die than the Bitcoin. I’m so lucky to have her and I am going to continue iterating on our security until it’s worthy of her.
