El Zonte in El Salvador is one of those places that has unexpectedly become like a second home. Every year I go back, like part of a sacred pilgrimage my body must undertake to get some of the healing magic Central America gives to my exploring soul. A place where I can always find familiar faces and share it with those I love. Never enough coconuts, never enough “can I pay with Bitcoin?”, never enough waves and definitely never enough sunsets. Colonia Zacamil is a place where every wall and every corner carries history. A history that speaks loudly of the resilience of the people of El Salvador. Shaped by terror, and now rebuilt through art, Zacamil reminded me how beautiful it is to be Latino. No matter where we are born, we breathe the same spirit, the same openness, the same instinct to welcome new horizons with hope. Today, Colonia Zacamil feels like a garden of possibility. Through art, Custom Made Stories Foundation has brought the joy of its people back onto the very buildings they call home. It’s not every day that taking photos shakes my soul and reconnects me with my own identity. I left feeling humbled and deeply grateful to have experienced this place.

There are places in this world where the ego can be left behind and forgotten… where your titles, accomplishments, and social constructs are not welcome. And if you somehow manage to sneak them in, the place itself will quietly strip them away. There are places you arrive with nothing, yet leave carrying the most fulfilled version of your soul. These places are medicine. The kind of medicine that heals only if you’re willing to let go of the mental cages you’ve been calling freedom. There are places where the air smells like rain and earth, and for a moment, nothing else matters. Sony Alpha 6100 · 50mm · Monteverde, Costa Rica image

Bitcoin conferences don't need more women-only events to attract more women to the space. What they actually need is to encourage all women to participate in all events, rather than isolating them. We often complain that men don’t know how to treat us or don't engage with women. But instead of isolating ourselves at exclusive brunches, why don't we show up, make ourselves visible, and let them know we're here? It’s uncomfortable to be alone, but it’s easier to lead by example when we're together in numbers. Men also have a responsibility to call out inappropriate behavior. However, isolating ourselves doesn’t create a truly safe space; it creates a bubble.
