Spending the evening exploring if it’s possible to build a native iOS signer app on Nostr.

I just discovered that @The Fishcake (nostr.build) fixed Nostore to work on iOS 18 back in September 2024! That means web clients work again on iOS Safari without needing to paste your private key in random websites. Would love to learn what exactly was broken because it wasn’t clear to me from reading the pull request. But zap this man. 🙏🏼 https://apps.apple.com/app/nostore/id1666553677

Not sure how I missed this. chachi is looking awesome. Localization AND calendar event previews. @verbiricha is doing a great job. Also, @rasputin is a real one. I’m not sure which Nostr projects he hasn’t translated to other languages. View quoted note →

Proton Calendar is hilariously bad on iOS. Came across this new bug today. Incorrectly placed events and missing event titles. Swiping to one day earlier brings me back to the 1980s. Bad week for them, following the outage from a few days ago. image

What are the chances that Musk or Zuckerberg have tried Nostr already?

As a solo Nostr developer, it’s becoming hard for me to justify continuing to develop Comingle using native frameworks. I’m normally a proponent for native frameworks for the look and feel, but that can arguably scale well only with a team of developers, which I don’t have. I shipped the iOS app (backed by Nostr SDK for Apple Platforms) a couple months ago, but it’s very difficult for me to spend time to write a duplicate version in Android and Web, especially with the limited amount of time I have as is. Olas by @PABLOF7z makes a compelling case for using React Native / NDK Mobile to ship fast — it’s slick and performs reasonably well in the brief time I’ve spent with it. I’m going to play around with NDK Mobile to see how far I can get with it.
