GM. There was a bug in Iris where replies were breaking threads in a way that made muting hellthreads impossible in other Nostr clients because it didn’t provide the root event marker tag. My PR fixes new replies from Iris and it should be live. Old replies will still have the thread visibility and muting issues unless clients put in a workaround to manually walk up the thread to find the root event.

Out of the loop. What’s the context behind all these AI-generated Ghibli images on Nostr today? Which tool was used?

Seeing people run into problems with setting up their Nostr NIP-05 identity because they entered their npub instead of their hex public key into the nostr.json file, and/or incorrectly formatted JSON. Maybe clients should have error detection and clearer error messages to instruct users what to do in those cases.

People who were bullish on Nostr and are suddenly feeling a bit bearish about it should consider resetting their expectations. Nostr moves as slowly or quickly as it needs to. Everything that needs to happen will happen on its own schedule. It’s easy to compare with VC-funded companies who are building alternatives and features on a much quicker timeframe and in higher quality. However, if you believe in the core tenets of Nostr, then have the conviction to stick with it. This is a strong grassroots community with a vision that has continued to develop even after 3+ years, and has only gotten stronger over time. I love Nostr.

As a Canadian-American dual citizen, I couldn’t hate tax season more. No Canadian tax software exists that fulfill my situation, so I have to file it manually. My Canadian tax situation isn’t complicated enough to justify hiring a Canadian tax accountant. All the electronically-fillable PDFs require Adobe Acrobat Reader or else all the numbers become misaligned. Adobe validates for Canadian provinces and postal codes so I can’t enter my US state or zip code either. I have to resort to printing the forms out, filling them out by hand, and mailing them in. Everything about this situation is garbage.
