It was an unpleasant and stressful experience. But part of it was, once I learned about this “managing out” strategy, that there is a word for this treatment, I basically refused to just quit my job. I was like, no, you are just going to fire me then.
Because I think it’s wrong to use this “managing out” strategy. I think especially because I worked at an elementary school literally next to my apartment, and had already spent that first year bonding with some of the kids I was seeing. Then, it was another year or two before I knew what was going on, then COVID happened, and we switched to remote learning… so timing-wise, several things contributed to me staying for the whole 5 years of the ‘probationary period’.
