Retaliating is certainly wrong, but silently enduring everything is not necessarily wise either. Some people mistake your silence for weakness rather than patience, and consequently, they begin to overstep boundaries. Remember, silence is a beautiful virtue, but it remains a virtue only as long as it does not compromise your self-respect. Protecting your dignity is just as important as practicing patience; while it is not necessary to respond to everything, neither is it mandatory to tolerate everything—for when a person stops guarding their own boundaries, others forget theirs.
