Welcome to my stream of Consciousness. Network Technician for a local ISP. Simple admin for the MyPaint Community Project. Linux Geek, gamer, and hobby artist....yup...that's all folks.... Oh.. btw I run arch ;)
I never going to recommend netgear ever again. They're starting to enforce having to have accounts connected to the router. After two factory resets and a bunch of form posts later I was able to figure out how to bypass it but that was a doozy.
Seeing Bitcoin break the $100k USD barrier is an amazing accomplishment. I've been on the fence for years but with current changes, I'm making an effort to participate in this community. I'll also make some changes on how I earn money and where to store it. Maybe also add this in the open-source community as well.
Happy Thanksgivings to all including those who don't live in the States!
@Mostr Bridge is there a way to claim a fediverse account and just mirror what I post on Nostr to Mastodon or vice a versa? Or do I need to setup @Soapbox and just move my nostr keys and mastodon account on there?
Gosh the more I use bitcoin, the more I learn that I most services I use, offer paying with Bitcoin... So I will probably be going that route first. I'm also think about hosting a Wallet for MyPaint Community as well. Open Collective used to offer Bitcoin donations, but sunset that a long time ago. My only issue is that I want the transactions to be just as transparent as it is on Open Collective. Just thinking....
Trying out @Wavlake on android. Like the music experience. I just wish there was a way to share music/podcast information between them, @Podverse and @Fountain to make it truely decentralize. Nostr seems like a good idea cause they could have their own relays and just exchange the info if needed. Idk. At least I can bridge Nostr and Mastodon with @Soapbox I'll have to set up my own server, but I think it might be doable.
I also ended up subscribing to Alby Cloud. I tired to load Alby hub on my Raspberry Pi but kept running into roadblocks. Probably once I get my nextcloud server going, I will take a look into it again. Also tip for those who are getting started, you can use fountain or primal to get the necessary sats to get started but the with the first channel opening, it might not work. I ended up transferring the sats to the alby shared wallet first then pay it via the extension. I then connected it to my alby account to transfer the remaining sats over. I wish it was a bit more simpler but now I understand why it is a chore. Also Chris what are your thoughts about using PayPal to buys sats and transfering it over to alby? After my fiasco with River, I forgotten PayPal offers buying Bitcoin as well. I'm a Washington resident too so would that affect me tax wise? View quoted note →
You never appreciate power until you lose it, and you have to drive 20 miles to get 15 gallons of water For the freaking toilet, and washing dishes. We luckily have a generator to keep the fridge on. Propane for the stove, but no power for the well pump. Yay!
We got our 11 gigahertz link back up and running. Our client had to wait a couple of weeks because we were waiting for the airfiber 11 to come back in stock. During that two-week period they were on the backup link so they weren't full bandwidth but they were online at least. It's doing 500 mbps up and down like it's supposed to and our clients are happy so we're happy.
Here's a clip from Self-Hosted giving you a quick primer of how the Lightning Network works in junction with Bitcoin. They go into much more depth if you want to listen to the full episode, but this will get you a rough idea of how it works. But overall, this is a very good way to not only pay for podcasts in the podcasting 2.0 network in the form of boosts and zaps, but this should also be a way to start also funding developers and the open source ecosystem as well. https://fountain.fm/clip/Wc7ZlKmmfAoLrotmeX6k
@npub1zlrn...h0fa Looks like I can follow ya now. I guess when #fountain.fm basically became a Nostr Client, they also became a verification site too? I'll try boosts when I'm able to purchase sats. Nostr is pretty cool concept wise, just weird and very linuxy difficult wise to setup.
Okay so I'm trying @openvibe@mastodon.social as my primary client on my Android that way I can post to both my Mastodon and my Nostr accounts. I would like to find a similar app for Linux as well so if any of ya have suggestions, I'm all ears.
I think I got things setup, but I'm having trouble following anyone including you @Chris Fisher. I'm using Alby to login to primal, but I don't know what else to do at this point.
