A pup coyote got lost on the farm and separated from his pack early in the morning. And from the other side of the farm, I can see (40x zoom) Mom keeping watch. So far the pup has not made it back to mom, and she just keeps standing there watching for him. image

This is the heart of the chicken coop automation (work in progress pic). The goal is to go on a road trip for a week or two, and nothing dies. This box manages three separate networks, including a backup LTE connection. It runs Home Assistant and Frigate DVR. All the sensors and feeding water door automations either run over Z-wave or Wi-Fi. So far rock solid, I’ll get into the details in LINUX Unplugged this week. image

We have the chickens moved out into their own run for just over two weeks now. Fully automated with Home Assistant, and monitored with Frigate DVR. It’s a great setup. What’s really mind blowing is just how fast they grow. They seem so big now, but they’re not done yet!

Rounding out week two with baby chicks, and they've easily doubled in size. image But two of our chicks seem to be struggling and are sick. We're nursing them and have them separated from the others, but they can't stand or walk very well. Hoping they pull through. image We have them on electrolytes and meds, so hopefully in a day or so, we will see an improvement.
