there is nuance to fake zaps if you trust your lightning node, zaps can't be faked *to you*, since clients validate the lightning node's nostr pubkey sending the zap (at least they should). but in general you can't trust the validity random zaps sent to other people. this is why zaps are more useful for individuals (like filtering DMs based on your zaps) and not as useful for ranking and algos.
