I guess it makes sense in retrospect that people drawn to the “we are all souls, our bodies don’t matter” end of the philosophical spectrum tend to be naive. Meanwhile, adherents to the hard physicalism of “we are only a collection of chemical processes, consciousness is strictly biological” are flatly, boringly cynical. The truth is the binocular view triangulated from both ends
