I've seen folks posting #Nostr & #Bitcoin attire, like t-shirts and baseball caps. But has anyone made more formal attire with discrete, professional branding? For example, is anyone selling a Nostr necktie that I could wear to a professional meeting? Or is there a line of business shirts that might have a simple Nostr logo printed on the corner of the front pocket? #asknostr #grownostr via #PostaNota
Many of us, myself included, throw around the term "freedom tech". For me, I often think of Bitcoin, Monero, and Nostr when using the term. Sometimes, Tor, I2P, LoRa mesh radio technologies, PGP, and the like also come to mind. What other freedom technology do you use on the regular and advocate for? #freedom #freedomtech #privacy #encryption #asknostr via #PostaNota
I'm listening to @The Watchman Privacy Podcast Episode 124, and it's all about name changes, alternate identities, etc. The guest, Barry Reid, talks about his five-volume series, which started back in the Vietnam War days, and how you can use the State's own laws to help provide you with a new identity for personal safety, privacy, and even economic benefit. I have to admit, the first think that came to mind when hearing all of this was @Jack Spirko's "statist jiu jitsu".
I might be passing through #Vietnam in the next few weeks. Any recommendations for solid #Bitcoin meetups or BTC-friendly businesses in the major cities (Hanoi, Saigon, Danang, Hoi An, etc.)? #asknostr
Sleep deprivation is one of the unhealthiest issues many educators face. It's not just about the lack of exercise, cafeteria food, and limited sunlight, though each of those contribute as well. Many teachers and support staff spend countless hours every week, often late into the night, early mornings, or even during school holidays, grading papers, creating lessons, catching up on the mountains of paperwork assigned by head office, or brainstorming how to differentiate lessons for their neurodivergent and special needs students. Modern education shouldn't treat educators this way, but we're often given the ultimatum to work non-stop or quit. Fellow educators, what tips can you share to help others in the profession to develop better habits and to overcome administrative demands on our time, energy, and attention? How can we, as profession, push for healthier boundaries and better work-life balance? #education #health #sleepdeprivation #asknostr
If you're a fellow educator, please know that you're not alone. Whether you're in a classroom, the library, the gym, the office, or some other place in your local school, keep your head up! It's definitely not easy, and there's no shortage of reasons to quit. Yet, for the terms or years that we are there, let's put in our best effort for the kids that we are working with. #education #frustration #motivation
On its 10th anniversary, Signal’s president wants to remind you that the world’s most secure communications platform is a nonprofit. It’s free. It doesn’t track you or serve you ads. It pays its engineers very well. And it’s a go-to app for hundreds of millions of people. #privacy #freedomtech
While I rarely use it, I still do have a #Mastodon account. When I pulled it up earlier, I saw this at the top of my feed. It looks like they're going the way of Twitter, trying to use algorithms to show me content that they deem more important. While likely not as evil and insidious as centralized platforms, this is definitely the wrong direction. If you need another reason to give more of your time and attention to #Nostr, this is it. #freedomtech image
