#ProjectNomad sounds like an amazing tool to set up your own learning station, where you can sit and read for hours, teach yourself new skills, and explore lifetimes worth of content. Some might use this in a survival situation, but I imagine it would be great for schools, homeschooling families, and other educational settings. #education #freedomtech #foss
I've spent the last few days messing around with #Reticulum and have been surprised by the number of people building #Nomadnet sites. Content is still sparse, but the individuals involved are freely broadcasting their own sites over the protocol without interference or ownership by anyone else. I think this is something that Bitcoiners and so many others could and should get behind. #freedomtech View quoted note →
#Reticulum nerds, is there any danger in adding too many interfaces to #MeshChat or #Columba?
I finally got #Meshchat up and running. I basically was lacking the proper, public-facing interfaces necessary to find peers and to find Nomadnet sites. After messing around with this for a few hours, I can't help but feel like I'm back in my old #Bitmessage days. Does anyone else remember chat software? #asknostr #Reticulum @shortwavesurfer2009 View quoted note →
#Reticulum nerds, I need your help. I set up Sideband on an old Android phone, and it seemed to connect to peers by itself. I was able to look at the announcements and find others to connect to all over the planet. I've just installed MeshChat on my desktop, and it says I've not discovered any peers and thus can't receive any announcements. What can I do to connect to everyone else? Any pointers? #asknostr @shortwavesurfer2009
The latest in the #California age verification drama: a FOSS calculator firmware team updated their terms to stop Californians from using it. 🙃
I stumbled down another weird internet rabbit hole today and have been watching videos and reading articles about food preservation: traditional methods like leaving meat submerged in running water, historical home canning practices, and modern freeze drying approaches. I'm left wondering how easy it would be to find affordable home canning equipment in #SoutheastAsia. What do you say, #Philippines, #Malaysia, #Singapore, #Thailand (#Siamstr)? Anyone know where I can find proper canning jars and an All-American 921 in this part of the world?
This definitely runs counter to my usual privacy stuff that I post here, but...but what happened to caller ID? Back when everyone had landlines in the 90s and into the early 2000s, caller ID was such a common thing and was really helpful too. It helped us know whether to pick up a number. Now, if someone isn't in your mobile's phone book, then it's just another unknown number. Have we gone backwards? #random #showerthoughts
I'm maybe only 20-30 minutes into @CJ Killmer's first episode on psychopathic rulers, but he does a great job of distinguishing between psychopathy and psychosis. I'll definitely finish this episode and the follow-up he's released just recently. However, I thought those interested in such topics might enjoy a few other, related books that I'm currently working through: 1. 5 Types of People Who Can Ruin Your Life Bill Eddy, a social worker, defines what Narcissists and Sociopaths are and goes on to explain his own category of 'High-Conflict Personalities'. He's built something of a career on defining this HCP category and teaching others how to deal with them 2. The Sociopath Next Door Dr. Martha Stout expertly weaves her teachings on sociopathy with vivid, living examples of who sociopaths are and what they do. I've not finished either yet, but I think both works help to give us a clear image of the types of people we're dealing with on a daily basis, particularly those in leadership (whether in business or in government). #readstr #bookstr #psychology View quoted note →
