Intelligence for Rails @Amboss has been updated which improves upon channel closing logic. Selecting which channels to close is a surprisingly challenging problem since it must value the opportunity cost of liquidity deployed in channels. Since liquidity leases are so much higher yielding than typical routing events but far more infrequent, the opportunity cost valuation is very complex. In order to fulfill a lease quickly, Bitcoin needs to be immediately available, which means that Bitcoin must be onchain. As a result of the increased intelligence (and fresh data feeds to Rails) we can cycle Bitcoin more quickly, allowing faster discovery of new routing opportunities on the network. Deployed capacity of our Rails cluster in the near term has sharply dropped following the upgrade, which gives us the opportunity to redeploy in more strategic zones.
