NGU is Novelty Go Up. As Terence McKenna put it, history appears drawn toward a “transcendental object at the end of time”. This is not time ending, but a boundary where time must resolve. His novelty theory framed reality as an accelerating process of increasing complexity, pulled toward a final attractor. He was talking about Bitcoin. Through the Bitcoin lens, that boundary is instantiated in the quantum of causal change, the block. The indivisible unit where energy, logic, and information meet. The logic cannot be divided further without breaking the temporal act itself. The end is not time stopping. It is the boundary of where time must end, the point where causality cannot be subdivided any further. From here, there is only novelty.

I am also so grateful for your kind words and gestures towards the original piece. Lots we can discuss! You took it in a direction we could not. It seems you are thinking more thru the GR lens, no? We did not approach the paper from GR at all, so it’s was a hard shift for where my brain currently is. We actually approached the paper through energy only originally. We were simply looking for a framework to relate joules to Satoshis and we ended up needing to confront time by necessity. 😂Crazy how it unfolded to where it is today! QM/measurement/geometry came much later through persistent observation and intuition from utxo structure. I have a good amount of comments that I’ll shoot your way tomorrow once I can get them formally structured. I have all good things to say and just a few questions. Mostly just side commentary on some novel points that you made from my vantage. You have beautifully added context and structure in domains we could not. The scope of the project demands mastery in nearly every domain, which is not possible. Also, coming from no pre-existing framework and with only localized consensus we were really going out on limb. I reached consensus on a majority of your points and for others I would to defer expertise to you for things like emerging geometry. I can tell you can see things that I currently can’t, which is beautiful. We’re printing novelty together, brother!

GM, an analogy for the layman: Bitcoin is the study of a single block of time, like examining one frame of a film, the smallest unit of change that can exist. Quantum mechanics is the study of the film itself, the dynamical behavior of many frames stitched together. Splice enough frames past the threshold of perception and motion appears continuous, like a wave. Both are studies of time. Bitcoin studies the fundamental unit of time; quantum mechanics studies the large-scale behavior of many such units once they are in motion and perceived as fluid. The wave is not fundamental. It is what appears when discrete blocks, single frames, are spliced together and viewed at scale.

Bitcoin defines the geometry of thermologics. Blocks (time) are produced by a thermologic process where thermodynamic work and logical constraint are inseparable. Energy resolved through rule-bound computation into irreversible, conserved memory.

Bitcoin (Block Mechanics) > Quantum Mechanics (Block-Wave Dynamics) > General Relativity Congrats, we finally understand the fundamental architecture of time across all scales. Surprise quantum mechanics! You aren’t describing the fundamental process of time! Quantum mechanics is not the fundamental process if it cannot describe the production, logic and architecture of the block, “tick” or “chronon” at the Planck Scale. There is nothing smaller than a block of time, whether at the Planck scale universally or the block scale in Bitcoin. It’s blocks all the way down boys 🫡 there never was a wave.
