This is an ugly truth of being an entrepreneur. The keyboard warriors and armchair quarterbacks see the tip of the iceberg in the small victories. But they don't see the risks the struggles or the sacrifices.
This clip from Early Days brought me back to a profound moment from my childhood - training with World Freestyle wrestling champion Terry Brands. He gave a speech I'll never forget on his philosophy:
"To make a quest to stand on the top stand of the podium is lonely. Everyone says it's lonely at the top. It's not. It's not lonely at the top. It's lonely GETTIN there. I had a lot of friends when I won a world championship. I didn't have any friends on the way there. Gettin up at 4AM to work out. The loneliness, the pureness is in that solitude. And not broadcasting it to the world."
This is why I'll always stand up for founders.
This is why I give an irrational amount of respect and support to founders.
