I wonder why they ask at the urgent care if I've had covid shot and follow up by "which company?"
Is it they want to check if I know the company name and likelihood that I'm not lying?
Or is something wrong with one of the shots and they still ask the question years later?

figuring it all out
I appreciate your humor, insight, and your post whether or not I agree
The Start9 NextCloud sync is confusing the heck out of me.
i have only only a couple small folders set to sync, but it looks like it's syncing GigaBytes of libraries like python etc.
the other confusing thing is that it disconnects from Wifi and requires me to manually reconnect it.
could it be that my Start9 session is just too lazy. i have to go look at it to make it connect.
then as soon as i wander away, it disconnects from Wifi, but it still makes sounds like it's thinking/downloading for hours even though it's "Not connected".
it's just doing it's own thing with very little regard for its owner's wishes.

i'm trying to find some health advice for someone who is 40, active, in -shape with the following symptoms:
he has acid reflux every night and almost a constant feeling of reflux in his throat.
he doesn't drink alcohol. he stopped drinking coffee a year ago.
he wonders if a hiatal hernia could be causing it. it started in earnest maybe a year ago following a fall in which he landed on his hip on concrete.
my own wacky worries would include trying to get rid of vax side effects, glyphosate on wheat, more relaxation/less stress, perhaps intermittent fasting.
he is almost scared not to eat because he thinks it will cause more acid. he also takes tums every day.
someone's sending their 18 year first born daughter to college. i blabbed to the dad he should just buy bitcoin instead.
he looked interested. I guess dad's not too keen on sending his daughter to the wolves. i don't think i could be a parent i would be too controlling. "You're staying at home." and then if she insists, i would gift her a trained dog for her apartment so no male friends could drop in.
but realistically, what should an 18 year old be doing right now instead of college especially if they don't know what they want to do?
what's the most prudent way forward, given AI is coming for a lot of jobs.
the Luke Broyles' comparison of humans are to horses as AI is to the automobile. has got me thinking.
you can either be the prettiest show horse, or be the horse that invests in automobile companies or oil companies. or the horse that's likeable enough that people with their new car just keep you around in the backyard.
but the horse that goes to get shod to plod along pulling wagons in the age of automobiles...
considering a career switch and wondering if captaining a ship is an attainable goal. looks like they work a lot of hours tho
some other options:
Deckhand/Ordinary Seaman: possible
Mate/Officer (e.g., Third Mate): maybe
Captain/Master : nope (if i'm not aiming for this, maybe it's not a good idea)
Engine Department (Onboard Roles):
Oiler/Wiper: nah
Marine Engineer (e.g., Third Assistant Engineer): hmmm
Chief Engineer: no
Steward/Cook: nope
Cruise Ship Staff (e.g., hospitality, entertainment): definitely not
Shore-Based Roles:
Port Operations/Logistics: maybe, but being on the boat is the whole point
arguing with someone over whether narcissism is when someone can't change their schedule at all for others.
like the rest of the family wants to meet at a restaurant at X time and this person never ever can make it on time or make it at all.
also i'm pretty sure narcissistic people don't like dogs, right?
i watched this Ark episode about Stablecoins with Art Laffer and Paulo Arduino CEO of Tether.
Art Laffer encourages Paulo's company to really grow by going after US market instead of just the global south to become a better money than the dollar (inflation resistant) and bitcoin (less volatile).
They speculate about the competition.
I find it notable that they don't realize that Paulo's US-based competition is already here in Strategy's STRC product.
Perhaps Paulo can just make STRC available globally the same way he makes USD available globally.
the Mempool is like that double slit experiment. when I look at it, there is nothing happening and transaction fees are 1.
as soon as i send a transaction, the mempool fills up, and the transaction that was supposed to go thru in 10 minutes takes 24 hours and counting...
good advice for anyone contemplating gardening, and feeling guilty about plants dying etc

It's time to top up the steering fluid and change the oil in the 25-year old vehicle. On queue, my Walter Mitty-esque car contemplations start:
I astral project alongside a SUV speeding across a dusty desert. It's sleek, low-slung yet has ample ground clearance for overlanding in the West Texas deserts. lots of windows that open and a tow hitch. a dinghy sailboat trailer pops out of nowhere bouncing along behind. It's for reconnaissance missions of shoreline cactii and birds in Lake Amistad. the paddleboard on the roof racks deploys to investigate ancient paintings in water-filled caves. there's a feeling of excitement of possible run-ins with cartels along the Tex-mexico border. Billy the Kid is rumored to have held up trains in these parts. The Sunset Limited train whips up tumbleweeds, and i zap back to reality as i need to pee from the morning coffee.
Youtube already read my mind top of feed a "Car care nut" review of new Toyota 4Runner. This reminds me i really want to degoogle my phone to stop these creepy thought prediction/reading scenarios.
it looks like Toyota already anticipated this vehicle. it looks great, and it's made in Japan:
