"Bitcoin breeds curiosity. And that curiosity paired with agency over your own life is so powerful" - John My guests today are John and Reyna from @My First Bitcoin . Mi Primer Bitcoin (My First Bitcoin) is a nonprofit based in El Salvador, built around a core concept: that independent, impartial, community-led Bitcoin education will change the world. John is the Founder and Executive Director and Reyna is the Vice Director of Adoption and Relations of Mi Primer Bitcoin. In this episode we discuss the importance of focusing on empowerment, critical thinking, financial literacy, and hope regarding their approach to Bitcoin education. We discuss the impartial and independent nature of Mi Primer Bitcoin, hope for the younger generation in El Salvador, and fighting against co-option of Bitcoin from various interests and groups that wish to see Bitcoin as fiat 2.0 rather than the tool for empowerment, money outside of state and special interest control. image

Tomorrow, don’t miss our episode with John and Reyna from @My First Bitcoin on #Bitcoin education in El Salvador and the hope that Bitcoin creates. “I do think that #Bitcoin is inevitable, I don’t think it is inevitably good though. Bitcoin’s going to change the world, and that is where Bitcoin needs us…because if there’s not people that are ensuring that Bitcoin realizes the potential of empowerment, the potential of people controlling their money, of people controlling their life, of just better money, that void will be filled by people who will subvert it and co-opt it. The enemy is anyone that wants to make Bitcoin into Fiat 2.0, and that is a lot of people. That’s the incentive structure they want to introduce to Bitcoin, to make it similar to the world they came from. That’s the real worry I have.” Be sure to subscribe to the pod via our YouTube channel or wherever you get your pods (link in bio)

As @Mad Bitcoins says, "Senator Warren should be with us.” A lot of the Senator’s criticism of #Bitcoin came from a now debunked WSJ article wildly overstating the amount of crypto used by terrorists. So what gives? How can we speak to progressives about bitcoin? Catch this ep via our YouTube channel or wherever you get your podcasts

To our listeners, supporters, Bitcoin community, and those folks still to come, I wanted to to articulate more of What "The Progressive Bitcoiner" (TPB) is and Why we are here. Our society, especially in the United States, continues to be more polarized than ever--from media, to politics, and everything in-between, there are those that continue to fan the flames of division rather than unity. The last thing I would want anyone to think is that the "Progressive" Bitcoiner is here to further fan those flames, promote any polarization, or present "one-sided" narratives on complex issues. I consider myself amongst those trying to seek truth through the noise, the murky gray, joining a growing range of voices and perspectives from all walks of life in independent media, with a focus on bitcoin and its many uses cases and as a tool for human rights and financial freedom, and many other things. TPB will never endorse a political candidate or particular political party, while attempting to create content and promote stories covering a wide range of topics, ideologies, political spectrums, diverse backgrounds, and more (all of course relating to Bitcoin in some way). We are mindful that far to many progressives and folks from the left have not seen Bitcoin as "for them," so we create content appealing to them as a central part of our mission. I speak from my background and values, historically coming from the left but ever-evolving, as we all are. I must be truthful to that, and truthful to my evolving views, which you may see in real-time over the course of this podcast--as is the case with all of us in life! TPB does seek to do 3 things: Bitcoin Adoption: To increase bitcoin adoption by appealing to a mainstream audience which includes progressives seeking more information about bitcoin, but feel they have nowhere for answers that speak to their values. We also seek to combat FUD around bitcoin coming from all directions including main stream media, politicians, banks/wall street, and beyond. Diversity: To increase the diversity of content available in bitcoin education and who it targets, especially the podcast space, which largely leans more libertarian and conservative. Content: To produce content that showcases great stories and conversations centered around social justice, economic empowerment, environmental issues, and other progressive values. We do not require that our guests consider themselves "progressive," or our audience. We believe our content is accessible to everyone, and promotes the ethos that Bitcoin is for everyone--not tied to any one ideology. Some episodes may appeal to you, and some may not. I may agree with our guests, I may not. As I previously said, I hold my personal views, opinions, and values, many that may be considered "progressive." As best we can, we continue to create content and evolve, not in an echo chamber, but with curiosity, truth seeking, human progressive, and the hope that Bitcoin can foster positive changes for personal, social and environmental issues. We welcome any and all feedback on our podcast and future endeavors and cannot think our supporters, advisors, and my team enough. As we bitcoiners like to say, I could not be more bullish on the future of this podcast, bitcoin, and what we can do togehter as human seeking a better world for everyone. Thank you, and Happy Valentines Day xoxo - Trey Walsh, host "The Progressive Bitcoiner"
