//The Wire//2300Z May 28, 2025// //ROUTINE// //BLUF: BORDER SKIRMISH REPORTED BETWEEN CAMBODIA AND THAILAND. LOCAL UNREST CONTINUES IN SEATTLE.//  -----BEGIN TEARLINE----- -International Events- Southeast Asia: Border clashes erupted overnight between Cambodia and Thailand. A brief small arms skirmish in the vicinity of Chong Bok resulted in 1x Cambodian border guard being killed by Thai forces. Both Cambodia and Thailand have stated that the other party started the skirmish; Cambodia claims an entrenched position they were dug into was ambushed, while Thailand claims that Cambodia was digging a new trench on their side of the line and Thailand's soldiers were trying to warn Cambodian soldiers away from the area. -HomeFront- Washington: Low-level unrest has continued following the activation of ANTIFA elements to oppose the presence of Christian groups within the city. Yesterday, following the statements by city officials, Pursuit NW, the Christian Church group at the center of the recent concert/prayer vigil scandal decided to host a First Amendment Event on the steps of City Hall, to call for the resignation of the Mayor for the city's statements on the situation. As expected, their presence immediately sparked a riot which lasted until the evening. 8x rioters were arrested, all of which affiliated with ANTIFA. Virginia: Another boil water advisory has been announced for the Richmond area as the local water treatment plant experienced issues with increased turbidity and clogged filters. AC: This is a recurring issue for Richmond. Back in January the boil advisory was in place for five days, which resulted in most restaurants remaining closed during that time due to health code regulations. -----END TEARLINE----- Analyst Comments: What actually happened along the Cambodian border is anyone's guess, however this area has been disputed by both nations for many years. Nevertheless, border clashes are usually one of the early indicators of old wounds being re-opened, so this will be a development to follow just in case it escalates. So far, both nations have begun moving more troops to this area, and have begun staging for posturing operations, so the potential for this to get out of hand remains a possibility. //The Wire//2300Z May 27, 2025// //ROUTINE// //BLUF: UKRAINE WAR RHETORIC INTENSIFIES. STATEMENTS CONTINUE FOLLOWING WEEKEND RIOT IN SEATTLE. DETAILS EMERGE REGARDING LAST WEEK'S VANDALISM IN TEXAS.//  -----BEGIN TEARLINE----- -International Events- Europe: Rhetoric concerning the war in Ukraine continues to escalate, as both President Trump and the Kremlin trade insults and less-than-friendly messaging. In response to the latest Russian drone strikes in Ukraine, President Trump stated that Putin was "playing with fire" regarding these developments. In response to this, former Russian Prime Minister (and current Deputy Chair of Russia's Security Council) Dmitry Medvedev stated that the "bad thing" that President Trump alluded to is WW3. AC: This is a classic Medvedev statement; invoking threats of WW3 is a fairly standard Tuesday for Dima, as Medvedev (echoing his former role as Prime Minister) often serves as the more informal conveyor of what Putin is thinking. To the casual observer it may not seem like it, but the situation is not openly hostile yet. However, the diplomacy being conducted between the United States and Russia is heating up nonetheless. -HomeFront- Pennsylvania: Overnight, a small arms engagement was reported at Lemon Hill Park in Philadelphia. 2x were killed, and 9x others were wounded. 1x person was also struck by a vehicle during the fray caused by the shooting. Local authorities state that three separate shooters have been counted as partaking in the incident, based on the shell casings found at the scene. AC: Very few details have been released regarding the cause of the shooting, or why a large group of people was gathered in this park late at night. At first glance this appears to be a gang shooting and/or the result of a domestic dispute, though more details are needed. Texas: More details have come to light following acts of vandalism that were reported throughout Austin last week. Three separate facilities were defaced with graffiti on May 21st, and yesterday it became known that all three facilities were linked to various Islamic institutions in the area. One was a Mosque and the other two sites were cultural centers. A vigil has been scheduled for May 29th in response to the acts of vandalism, and the Austin Police Department has announced a rigorous increase in patrols, along with undercover operations to prevent further vandalism. Washington: A small riot broke out over the weekend in Seattle as a concert and prayer vigil was held in Cal Anderson Park. The event, which largely involved various performances by Christian musical groups and various prayer vigils, was hosted by Pursuit Northwest, a local Christian organization. The event (which was permitted and approved by the government), became host to violence as ANTIFA activists arrived and began assaulting the police officers guarding the perimeter of the event. 27x rioters were arrested for assaulting police at the event. None of the event participants were arrested; 100% of the violence took place between ANTIFA activists and police. However, all of the rioters who assaulted police were immediately released by a local judge on Monday. -----END TEARLINE----- Analyst Comments: Though it may be surprising to some, the events over the weekend in Seattle are not out of the ordinary, and merely reflect the regional norm when it comes to those who practice the Christian faith in the region. Any type of display of Christianity in Seattle is usually met with violence, so the outcome being violence conducted on those attending the event was to be expected. In this case, extreme violence was very much going to be the result from the very start...holding a prayer vigil in a park named after the first openly gay Congressman in Washington was very much going to result in a kinetic response by locals. However, one important detail that has come to light is that this exact park, Cal Anderson Park, was suggested by the city as having enough space for the event when the group applied for it's permit. This confirms that the Mayor's earlier statements that the group intentionally chose the park for their prayer event for malicious reasons is indeed, a lie. The permitting office chose the venue, not the group itself. Also expected is quite literally every single entity involved blaming the prayer group for having the audacity to hold a properly-permitted event in the park. The Seattle Police Officer's Guild has expressed anger not solely at the ANTIFA members who showed up and began beating their officers, but at the City's Parks and Recreation Department for issuing the Christian group a legal permit to be there. Likewise, every single government entity in Seattle that is involved in this situation has condemned not the rioters who started the violence, but those who had a legal permit to pray in public. Similarly all mainstream media sources have condemned the Christian group for being there, and not the actual rioters. This may be an uncomfortable reality for many to acknowledge, as it seems unthinkable for this kind of thing to happen in the United States. It is simply unimaginable that in the United States, a Christian group can hold a government-approved prayer vigil in public, and the media and police alike blame the Christians when violent rioters show up and cause problems. But this is indeed exactly what happened. This is simply the reality of how far the persecution of Christianity has gone in this area...a norm that is not new by any means, but is becoming more solidified and openly and proudly stated even by some government agencies at this point. //The Wire//2300Z May 26, 2025// //ROUTINE// //BLUF: FRIDAY'S BLACKOUT IN FRANCE REVEALED TO BE INTENTIONAL ACT OF SABOTAGE. GANG WAR RESULTS IN MASS STABBING AT AUSTRALIAN SHOPPING CENTER. VEHICLE RAMMING ATTACK REPORTED IN LIVERPOOL.//  -----BEGIN TEARLINE----- -International Events- France: The electrical blackout that took place near Cannes on Friday has been designated as an act of deliberate sabotage. Transmission lines were cut and an electrical substation was set on fire by activists targeting the Cannes Film Festival. Australia: A gang dispute resulted in a mass stabbing at Northland Shopping Centre in Melbourne. Local authorities state that two rival gangs planned to meet up at the location to engage in mutual combat, and that the violence was not an instance of random targeting. Nevertheless, many people were wounded in the skirmish, and it remains unclear as to if any genuine bystanders were wounded in the attack. United Kingdom: This afternoon a vehicle ramming attack was reported in Liverpool as an unidentified man drove his vehicle into a crowd of people on Water Street as they celebrated a sports victory around the city. Concerning the casualties, 47x people have been reported wounded so far, with 27x being hospitalized. AC: As expected, authorities have not released many details pertaining to this incident. Authorities have stated that one individual, a 53-year-old male, was arrested at the scene. However, authorities notably did *not* state whether or not this individual was the driver of the vehicle. For context of why this distinction matters, immediately after the vehicle came to a stop, bedlam immediately broke out, with football fans attempting to cause violence to the driver (as one might expect). Consequently, police moved in to detain the driver, which in turn resulted in dozens of individuals physically assaulting the police officers attempting to protect the driver. Due to the carefully-worded statements by officials, some have speculated that the man who was arrested was actually one of the football fans engaging in this behavior, and not the driver. In any case, many people were detained at the scene of the incident, though it's unclear as to if any were arrested. Regarding the motive for the attack, it's not entirely clear. This was not a planned street event, so even though there was a police presence, there was no traffic control and there were no barricades in place. However, video footage of the incident strongly indicates that the driver did aim his vehicle toward (and accelerated into) the densely-packed crowd. What the truth actually is, only time will tell. There were no explosives or stabbings reported in conjunction with this incident, so it could equally have been a situation of deliberate opportunistic terrorism, a case of road-rage, or some other mental-health crisis. Europe: The conflict between Russia and Ukraine intensified over the weekend, with both sides engaging in heavy fighting. Russia, having completely erased the effects of Ukraine's Kursk Offensive, has now begun their counteroffensive mostly in the form of missile and drone strikes. Earlier last week, Ukraine stepped-up drone attacks on soft-targets, conducting very large scale drone attacks deep inside Russia. AC: Due to the challenges of determining who-started-what with this war, the timeline of what has occurred on the eastern front is hard to verify. What is certain is that Ukraine did conduct another large-scale drone offensive targeting Moscow, which resulted in President Putin's helicopter being caught in the fray during the attack. This does not mean that this was explicitly a direct assassination attempt as is being claimed by various Russian sources, but it does mean that the same effect was almost achieved. Either way the stakes keep going up, and the potential for peace continues to dwindle. -HomeFront- Louisiana: Over the weekend, an electrical brownout was reported throughout parts of New Orleans. The grid operator, Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) was unable to meet demand and ordered load shedding throughout the area. AC: Though thankfully in this case the loss of electricity to a major American city during a major holiday weekend was not an act of sabotage, it still does not bode well for the status of the electrical grid at large as the temperatures over the weekend were only in the upper 80's, and reached a high of 90°F. If the grid is struggling now, this could present more challenges when the true heat of summer arrives. South Carolina: A mass shooting was reported at a cultural event in Myrtle Beach. Following a domestic argument, a small arms skirmish broke out onboard a civilian vessel hosting participants of the Atlantic Beach Black Pearl Cultural Heritage and Bike Festival event, with 11x people being wounded. -----END TEARLINE----- Analyst Comments: Details are sketchy at the moment, however the Myrtle Beach shooting was complicated by an entirely separate shooting that occurred at roughly the same time and place. A police officer at the Harbourgate Marina accidentally shot himself in the leg while attempting to respond to the shooting that was underway two miles up the waterway to the northeast. In the fray it was initially reported that the officer was involved in this skirmish, however this was an entirely separate incident. More generally, it is surprising that more people weren't killed during this rather infamous event. Known colloquially as "Black Bike Week" or the "Atlantic Beach Bikefest" by event goers and locals alike, this yearly festival/motorcycle event is infamous for bringing violence and murder to Myrtle Beach every single Memorial Day weekend. Normally, participants engage in general debauchery and light vandalism, but there's also usually a sharp rise in small arms engagements whenever the large crowds of participants (which usually number around half a million in total) roll into town. //The Wire//2300Z May 23, 2025// //ROUTINE// //BLUF: MULTIPLE STABBING ATTACKS REPORTED IN GERMANY, ONE MASS STABBING AND TWO INCIDENTS INVOLVING SCHOOLCHILDREN. BRITISH AIRWAYS QUIETLY EXTENDS HALT OF FLIGHTS TO ISRAEL DUE TO SECURITY CONCERNS.//  -----BEGIN TEARLINE----- -International Events- Germany: Yesterday two stabbing attacks occurred in primary schools throughout the nation, both of which appear to have started as arguments between students. The first stabbing incident occurred in Spandau and involved an 11-year-old being stabbed by a fellow classmate at Weinmeisterhorn Elementary School. The victim remains hospitalized in intensive care following the incident, which began as a schoolyard fight that ended with the other student stabbing the victim. The second stabbing incident occurred a few hours after the first, in the town of Remschied. In this case an 11-year-old stabbed a fellow classmate (aged 13-years-old), allegedly due to a dispute between the two. This morning a mass stabbing was reported at the central train station in Hamburg. 12x victims were wounded in the attack, with 3x remaining in critical condition. The assailant was arrested at the scene, but has not been identified as of this report. AC: Some reports conflict on the identity of the assailant. Some sources claim the attacker was female, while others state that it was male, or at minimum of questionable status. Middle East: This morning Israeli media reported that British Airways canceled all flights in and out of Israel until July 31, due to security concerns. AC: This is an interesting case as British Airways hasn't publicly acknowledged this development, at least not yet. As a reminder, British Airways (along with a few other smaller airlines) had halted all flights into and out of Israel's Ben Gurion airport due to successful Houthi missile strikes a few months ago. Overnight, it seems as though Israeli journalists went onto the British Airways website and discovered that tickets could not be booked for the airport until August. As such, what is being touted as a flight-ban is probably a quiet and non-publicized extension of a pre-existing flight ban for security reasons. -----END TEARLINE----- Analyst Comments: Right now details on both juvenile-linked stabbing incidents in Germany are sketchy at best; Quite literally zero mainstream media outlets have mentioned either incident...even Googling these stories turns up zero search results. However, the small handful of local German-language media sources have suggested that both assailants were German citizens of an immigrant origin. A few AfD politicians and figures have also made similar statements, but since the offenders are juveniles, very little investigation will be conducted due to Germany's procedures involving underage criminals. Similarly, the ax-attack that occurred two days ago in the parking lot of a grocery store in France has received little media attention and has subsequently been hard to find any details on. Most local French-language independent media that has mentioned the story seem to think this ax-murder was intra-cultural violence situation as both the victim and perpetrator were of Turkish ethnicity. In any case, though these brutal attacks and murders are very common throughout Europe, it's becoming increasingly difficult to find out that an attack occurs in the first place. In almost all cases, the only way the world knows of an attack is via individual citizens posting about the incident on social media in such a way that does not trigger algorithmic suppression of the information. EXPLOSION AT DIESEL REFINERY IN MEXICO.//  -----BEGIN TEARLINE----- -International Events- Mexico: Yesterday afternoon a large explosion was reported at the Marvic Diesel Factory in Nuevo León. The explosion and subsequent fire consumed much of the facility, and one person was injured as a result of the blast. AC: The cause of the incident has not been released, however refineries in Mexico have a long history of accidents that result in similar incidents. -HomeFront- Washington D.C. - Last night 2x Israeli Embassy staffers were murdered at the FBI Field Office and the Capital Jewish Museum at the corner of 3rd St. NW and F St. NW. The assailant, who has been identified as Elias Rodriguez, was arrested at the scene while declaring support for the Palestinian movement. AC: Due to the obvious political sensitivities around this incident, the subsequent media blitz will very likely result in this incident having international ramifications. In the domestic United States, the murder of embassy staff will draw a very strong response from federal authorities, so over the next few days any high-profile pro-Palestine leadership will probably get rolled up or at minimum be subject to increased scrutiny. California: This morning a private jet crashed in a residential neighborhood in San Diego. The aircraft impacted the street at high speed while attempting to land at Montgomery Gibbs Airport. So, far 2x fatalities have been confirmed. -----END TEARLINE----- Analyst Comments: The cause of the plane crash in San Diego remains unknown while the investigation continues. However, at the time of the crash weather conditions were poor in the form of heavy fog. ADS-B flight tracking data indicates that the aircraft was behaving erratically before the crash. Additionally, a search of local Notice-to-Airmen (NOTAM) postings for this airport indicate that a navigational aid was out of service as of a few weeks ago. This may or may not be related to the incident, but this will be important context to consider as the investigation continues. Analyst: S2A1 Research: //END REPORT//

KNIFE ATTACK OCCURS IN AMSTERDAM, MULTIPLE DEAD AND WOUNDED.//  -----BEGIN TEARLINE----- -International Events- France: Yesterday evening a 14-year-old boy was murdered by an assailant in Nogent-sur-Oise, a small town north of Paris. Local authorities have not released any information regarding the attack, however locals who witnessed the incident state that the assailant murdered the boy with an ax in the parking lot of a grocery store. Netherlands: A stabbing attack was reported in Amsterdam yesterday, resulting in two fatalities, and the wounding of two responding police officers. AC: This situation does not appear to be a random attack, but rather a domestic situation that occurred in an area well known for heavy drug use. As such, the circumstances of the two fatalities are not clear; Dutch authorities have stated that the responding officers did fire their weapons during this incident, however very few details have indicated what actually happened here. -HomeFront- Midwest: Disaster recovery efforts continue throughout the region, following the severe weather systems that have caused devastation throughout the region. Local authorities in St. Louis are investigating their emergency response procedures after a substantial tornado ripped through the downtown metro area on Friday. AC: Today local authorities stated that the city's tornado siren network was not functioning at the time it was needed, resulting in no tornado warnings being sounded. The head of the St. Louis City Emergency Management Agency has been placed on leave after it became clear that the citywide siren system didn't actually work, and possibly had not been operationally tested in decades. Routine tests are normally mandatory, however when asked about it the interim CEMA official (a Fire Captain temporarily appointed to the job while the investigation continues) did not provide a date as to when the system was last tested, other than when it was installed in 1999. From the descriptions of what possibly happened, it sounds like the physical button and/or switch to activate the tornado sirens did not work when officials attempted to activate it. Washington D.C. - This morning South African President Cyril Ramaphosa conducted a state visit to the White House. During the visit, the main point of focus was the domestic situation in South Africa, with President Trump pressing Ramaphosa regarding the concerns of genocide within his nation. -----END TEARLINE----- Analyst Comments: Despite the smiles and handshakes presented to the media, the state visit by South African leadership did not go well. Though the tone was not as openly hostile as Zelenskyy's infamous visit, the ideas conveyed were equally serious (if not moreso). When President Ramaphosa echoed his previous statements flat-out denying that any genocide was taking place, President Trump's team played various video clips showing evidence that these statements are false. Considering that this audio/visual presentation was pre-arranged (but interestingly, not announced beforehand), the White House probably knew how this situation might go and had planned this meticulously. In short, this visit was probably the White House's attempt to put South African leadership on notice regarding their aspirations for ethnic cleansing. Before the civilizational decline of recent times South Africa was a powerful player in the region, and the White House is probably trying to curb the increasingly exponential rise in cultural violence that is driving South Africa further into a state of decline. Whether or not these efforts will pan out, is anyone's guess. Analyst: S2A1 Research: //END REPORT//

No word yet on what caused the outage. -HomeFront- Missouri: A $25,000 reward has been posted for any information pertaining to various acts of vandalism that occurred throughout the Kansas City metro area over the weekend. Authorities state that vandals cut internet communications cables at multiple sites throughout the city, which resulted in localized internet outages. California: This morning a bomb threat was reported onboard Hawaiian Airlines Flight 15. A passenger reportedly stated that they would detonate an explosive device on the aircraft shortly before takeoff, prompting the pilots to abort takeoff and initiate an emergency response. Local authorities boarded the aircraft and detained the individual who made the threats, and evacuated the rest of the aircraft while EOD personnel conducted a search for explosives. As of this report it's not clear as to if any explosives were found. -----END TEARLINE----- Analyst Comments: In Spain, emergency call centers were most heavily affected by the outage, however most cellular communications were not affected. Services were quickly restored, with some areas only experiencing a brief outage of a few minutes. JOE BIDEN DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER.//  -----BEGIN TEARLINE----- -International Events- Germany: A mass stabbing attack was reported in Bielefeld on Sunday. 5x people were stabbed (with 3x remaining in intensive care) by an assailant, who remains at large. Authorities are treating the incident as an act of terrorism, and have identified the attacker as Mahmoud Mhemed. AC: Though the assailant evaded capture at the time of the incident, in the fray he left his bag behind. Inside authorities found several knives and what has been described as a pre-made incendiary device. -HomeFront- New Jersey: The FAA reported another communications outage in the Newark sector this morning. This comes as the FAA has reduced the frequency of flights in and out of Newark while upgrades and repairs are underway. Delaware: Joe Biden's staff announced that he has been diagnosed with Stage 4 prostate cancer. In the various press statements that have been issued, his staff stated that his illness is among the most aggressive forms of cancer, but that it is responding to hormone treatment. Ohio: 5x people were struck by a train in Fremont over the weekend. Two people were killed and one child remains missing after they were struck by the train while fishing off of the Miles Newton Bridge. One infant was rescued from the water after the incident, and rescue teams are continuing the search for a missing 5-year-old. Midwest: Dozens of fatalities have been reported as a result of severe storms and tornados that transited through the region overnight. So far, 28x fatalities have been reported in Kentucky, Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana. -----END TEARLINE----- Analyst Comments: In the central United States, weather conditions continue to present risks of disaster. In short, the Midwest is not out of the woods just yet. This year's storm season is more active than usual, with multiple storm systems continuing to form and roll through communities with little notice. A localized disaster can be handled by local authorities and prepared citizens alike, but a storm system that ravages multiple states across thousands of square miles at nearly the same time is a much more significant series of events. Bottom line, rescue and recovery assets will remain stretched thin for some time as the seasonal weather systems remain above average. Analyst: S2A1 Research: //END REPORT//

Local authorities and eyewitness testimony indicates that a vehicle parked in the parking lot to rear of the structure contained an explosive device which detonated, causing severe damage to the clinic. -----END TEARLINE----- Analyst Comments: As this is a developing situation, it's too soon to tell what the motive might be with any certainty; there are many different reasons as to why a terrorist may wish to conduct an attack at an IVF clinic. At least one individual was killed in the blast, and several more were wounded. However it's not clear as to if the victims were inside the clinic at the time, or were random passersby. Though further technical analysis will be required, the initial characteristics of the extremely severe damage indicates that this was a substantial and properly constructed IED. This was very likely not the result of a simple pipe bomb, but rather much more explosive material. Analyst: S2A1 Research: //END REPORT//

//The Wire//2300Z May 14, 2025// //ROUTINE// //BLUF: TRUMP'S MIDDLE EAST TRIP CONTINUES. NAVAL CONFRONTATION EMERGES IN THE GULF OF FINLAND.//  -----BEGIN TEARLINE-----   -International Events- Baltic: A brief scandal erupted between Russia and Estonia regarding the attempted halting of a cargo ship suspected of violating trade agreements. Estonian naval forces attempted to board the tanker M/T JAGUAR in the Gulf of Finland. This tanker was bound for Russia, and in a continuation of Estonia's history of detaining vessels suspected of breaching sanctions, Estonian forces attempted to conduct boarding operations to inspect (and probably detain) the vessel. In this case, however, Russian fighter jets appeared and carried out international relations in the form of buzzing the Estonian vessels and aircraft that were attempting to board the vessel. Due to this development, Estonian forces backed off, and halted the boarding attempt. AC: This confrontation is not entirely out of the realm of normalcy at this point, but it does highlight the tensions that remain between NATO and Russia. All it takes is one mistake for this passive-aggression to turn into active aggression, and for very serious consequences to occur. -HomeFront- Michigan: This morning federal authorities issued a press release detailing the arrest of Ammar Abdulmajid-Mohamed Said for his attempt to target a military installation in an act of terrorism. Said was arrested by undercover agents shortly before the alleged attack was to begin. AC: This is an interesting case, but as with all cases involving "confidential informants" that help a would-be terrorist plan their attack, more context would be helpful to determine what really happened. Based on the report itself, there are several details that would be careful to consider. For one, the very first line of the press release states that Said was a "former member of the Michigan Army National Guard"...however the next paragraph states that he is currently 19 years old. Since the shortest military service contracts are generally 4 years long, and one must be at least 17 years old to enlist in any service branch...something is off here. As such, the details of his discharge would be exceptionally helpful for determining if a pattern of terroristic behavior was displayed early on. Minnesota: Concerns are growing regarding a potential Presidential pardon of Derek Chauvin, the officer convicted during the George Floyd scandal years ago. Gov. Tim Walz has stated that the White House is planning to pardon Chauvin, however President Trump has stated that he knows nothing about this when directly questioned by reporters on the issue. -----END TEARLINE----- Analyst Comments: This is almost certainly an information operation carried out by the guy who ran against Trump during the last election, and intended to stoke dissent at a time when race-relations in the United States are not doing well. For one, Derek Chauvin was convicted on state-level charges, so even if he was pardoned by President Trump for the federal hate-crime charges, he would still remain in prison on state charges for 22 more years. Gov. Walz's statements have also been very indicative of this being what one might colloquially refer to as a "psyop" because his statements (to paraphrase) essentially boil down to "well, we don't have any evidence that Trump is planning this pardon, but it seems like something he might do". So in other words, this a giant pile of nothing that has been plopped into the circuit for the media to chew on for a few days, and hopefully stir up another "mostly-peaceful" summer of violence. How successful this effort will be is anyone's guess. In the Middle East, President Trump's overseas visit continues as a plethora of trade deals are signed with various nations around the Middle East. Yesterday President Trump met with the leader of Syria, Ahmed al-Sharaa (aka al-Jolani), in a somewhat controversial softening of relations with Syria. As a reminder, Jolani is a very controversial figure, even considering the standard of most middle east leaders being controversial in some way. Jolani rose to power as a warlord leader of several al-Qaeda splinter groups, and became the leader of Syria following the fall of the Assad regime a few months ago. Even just last year, Jolani's face was on a series of 'wanted' posters with various federal agencies in the US, and was a highly sought insurgent group leader. The United States is not ignorant of this rather unsavory origin, nor is the US unaware of Jolani's group quite literally committing genocide of opposition groups and ethnic communities during the fall of Syria. However, since Assad was very heavily aligned with Russia, the United States is probably trying to pull and influence Syria towards having a more pro-US stance. The morality of this will be debated by all, but this is probably the simplest explanation of what is happening between the US and Syria. As dirty as it is, the United States wants Jolani to be "our man in Damascus", which itself is probably one means of balancing out the relationships the US has with other nations around the region. Both Turkey and Israel are watching what's going on here, and how they react to this softening of relations with Syria will be very important for those interested in the stability of the region. Once the aircraft landed at the airport, passengers were evacuated at a remote section of the airport while the aircraft was inspected. It is unclear as to if any explosive threat was found onboard the aircraft. United Kingdom: An arson attack was reported at the Prime Minister's residence yesterday afternoon. PM Starmer's private residence in North London was attacked by an assailant, who set fire to the front door of the structure. One assailant has been arrested in conjunction with this incident. AC: Local authorities are keeping quiet regarding this incident, so details are very hard to verify. However, this appears to be the fairly standard Molotov attack, or something similar. Middle East: President Trump's visit to the region continues, with mostly trade deals being the focus of proceedings so far. This morning the United States and Saudi Arabia signed what the White House calls the largest arms deal in history, a $142 billion agreement for various American arms. President Trump also announced the removal of sanctions from the nation of Syria. France: This afternoon an attempted kidnapping was reported in Paris, involving a family member of a major cryptocurrency exchange executive. The victims, who have not been identified, successfully evaded capture from the assailants who attempted to pull them into an unmarked van.  -HomeFront- Maryland: A multi-alarm fire was reported at a vacant mattress warehouse in west Baltimore overnight. Amtrak service was briefly interrupted due to the fire, as the rail lines were located directly adjacent to the burning structure. -----END TEARLINE----- Analyst Comments: The kidnapping of crypto executives has become a rather common occurrence throughout Europe over the past few years as the cryptocurrency world becomes much more high profile. Several CEOs of crypto exchanges have been robbed, or kidnapped and held for ransom in very sophisticated heists over the past few months alone. Back in January, a family member of a crypto exchange executive was kidnapped in Paris as well, and his amputated finger sent to police. This individual was finally rescued on May 5th by counterterrorism forces. Now, roughly a week later, another high-profile kidnapping was attempted in the same exact city. Black-bag street kidnappings appear to be the main vector for the kidnapping ring, which also bears the hallmarks of a much more substantial organized crime syndicate. Either way, most of the crypto executives that have been involved in these cases have demonstrated rather poor personal security (PERSEC), and have been known to present significant vulnerabilities via posts on social media. //The Wire//2300Z May 12, 2025// //ROUTINE// //BLUF: POTENTIAL SCHOOL SHOOTING THWARTED IN MAINE BY VIGILANT STUDENT. INDIA/PAKISTAN CONFLICT REMAINS TENSE FOLLOWING MULTIPLE CEASEFIRE VIOLATIONS. WHITE HOUSE ANNOUNCES TRADE DEAL WITH CHINA.//  -----BEGIN TEARLINE-----   -International Events- India/Pakistan: Almost immediately following Saturday's ceasefire, the conflict remained kinetic following what may have been a brief mutiny incident in the Pakistani Armed Forces. Though nothing remains confirmed (and everything is speculative), a small handful of Pakistani artillery units appear to have not recognized Pakistan's ceasefire order, and kept firing through the ceasefire that had been brokered. This led to India accusing Pakistan of violating the ceasefire and retaliating in kind. Several more drone incursions were reported originating from Pakistan the following day, and throughout Saturday afternoon and Sunday limited fighting has continued along the Line-of-Control (LoC). By Monday morning, most of the fighting has simmered down. AC: It would be a stretch to say that the ceasefire is "holding" however the fighting has reduced in intensity as both nations have made increased efforts to regain control of their own forces along the LoC. This may flare back up by tomorrow, but for now both nations have gotten their licks in, and both are probably looking for a face-saving exit plan from this conflict. United Kingdom: This morning widespread issues were reported throughout the Underground subway system in London. Four subway routes were shut down due to a loss of power along the lines, which struck immediately before rush hour. North Africa: Heavy clashes were reported overnight in Libya as a prominent militia leader was killed. Abdel-ghani al-Kikli, the infamous warlord leading the Stabilization Support Authority (SSA), was assassinated in Tripoli last night, leading to his militia group causing unrest throughout the city. AC: While this may seem like a brutal (but standard) part of life in Libya, this may have an affect on the immigration situation over the next few months. Al-Kikli (also known locally as 'Ghaniwa') became famous (or rather, infamous) for his group's expansion in multiple sectors throughout the nation. Whether it's crude oil or arms trafficking, the SSA is involved in some manner throughout Libya. In the global West, the only reason his name is known is largely for one reason...his involvement in the exploitation, torture, and abuse of sub-Saharan migrants looking to use Libya as a jumping off point for migration to Europe. In short, though al-Kikli was a brutal warlord accused of a plethora of human rights abuses, he (and his group) were one of the only entities that was a hinderance to migration operations. Now that al-Kikli's brutal hand is no longer a factor for migrants, this could lead to increased unrest throughout the region, in addition to all of the other sectors that will be affected by this loss. Power vacuums in Libya have a way of affecting the global west in one way or another, so keeping an eye on this situation would be worthwhile.  -HomeFront- Washington D.C. - The White House has announced a series of policy changes related to the trade war between the United States and China. A series of trade deals has been reached, and the United States has reduced tariffs on China from 145% to 30%, while China has reduced their tariffs on the US from 125% to 10%. This deal will go into effect immediately, and last for 90 days while other economic talks continue. Maine: A potential mass shooter was arrested before an attack in Biddeford on Friday. Local school officials at Biddeford High School have stated that a man was arrested after being observed by a student to be loading a rifle in the parking lot. Local authorities have identified the potential attacker as 21-year-old Mohammed Hussein Kamaludeen, who was arrested for possession of a firearm near a school. AC: The carefully observant student who spotted this man very likely prevented a mass shooting. Due to the potential assailant's name, this story will very likely not receive much media attention, but this incident highlights both the growing risk of terrorism and also how important it is to be aware of malign actors. Maryland: On Saturday, a possible vehicle ramming attack was conducted in Laurel, at the Main Street Festival. Local authorities state that Kai Deberry-Bostick drove up to the street that was closed for the festival, got out of her vehicle, ripped down the police tape, and proceeded to drive through the festival. Deberry-Bostick struck one police officer with her vehicle during the incident, and pushed many people off of the road as she transited through the tented areas for the festival. AC: At the moment it appears as though this incident was not the result of a terror attack, but rather the result of a person who's narcissism is a risk to public safety. The body camera footage of the incident clearly shows that local police did take efforts to block the street, however the assailant was able to squeeze her vehicle around the police cruiser blocking the road. The assailant was immediately confronted by a police officer, but was allowed by the officer to tear down the police tape and drive directly into the crowd at the festival. Considering this was in Maryland, it's very likely that the officer did not want to shoot the assailant for social/cultural reasons, even though Deberry-Bostick presented a clear and present danger to the public, and openly conveyed that she intended to plow her vehicle into the crowd. These social concerns highlight the unique threat profiles that are very common in American society at present...it's a complex problem that has no easy solution. Tennessee: A truck driver has been arrested on multiple counts of reckless homicide following a fatal crash on I-75 on Sunday. Joseph Antoinier was arrested after failing to adjust to traffic conditions, which resulted in him driving his semi truck into slowed traffic, causing a pileup. This incident resulted in 2x fatalities, with 2x others remaining in intensive care due to their injuries. AC: This incident was exceptionally tragic due to the circumstances of the fatalities. 6x passenger vehicles were involved in this accident, two of which immediately caught fire with children inside. Many bystanders received burns during improvised rescue operations of those trapped inside the affected vehicles. New Jersey: Civil unrest broke out at the federal Delaney Detention Center over the weekend, as ICE personnel attempted to process illegal immigrants for deportation. Multiple riots and attempts to breach the perimeter have been reported at this facility over the past few days, which has included the assault of security personnel by violent rioters. Members of Congress have also been involved in the fray, with recently-released body cam footage confirming beyond all doubt that Rep. LaMonica McIver physically assaulted an ICE agent in order to illegally gain entry to this facility. During the riot, Rep. Rob Menendez and Mayor Ras Baraka also physically breached the perimeter of this facility. Ohio: This afternoon a small Black Panther armed show-of-force demonstration was held at the Hamilton County Courthouse in support of Rodney Hinton, the individual who deliberately murdered a random police officer after being shown the body cam footage that justified the police shooting of his son last week. Several armed individuals took part in this power-projection operation, with their leader openly professing his support for Hinton's actions. USA: The first South African refugees granted asylum in the United States have arrived, to much opposition from refugee groups. The national Episcopal Church, a major player in the refugee space, has halted their U.S. Refugee Admissions Program specifically due to South Africans being classified as refugees. In a letter posted to their website, the Church states that they have funded, supported, and organized efforts to promote the immigration of over 110,000 immigrants into the United States...but that the Church will not support the immigration of 49x Afrikaners into the United States. AC: While this is a rather interesting case (for many reasons) perhaps the most surprising aspect of it involves the utter contempt expressed for these refugees...by refugee groups. It would have been an easy win among immigration-centric organizations, but instead a national-level Protestant Church has instead chosen to openly admit that they are not supportive of this specific immigration situation explicitly due to the race of the refugees. Some may be surprised that this statement is made so openly, however that's what the Church said in their letter, so any questions and concerns should be directed toward the Church itself. Nevertheless, in a larger sense this will be the cause of much debate over the next few weeks as rather bold statements become impossible to ignore. A very large pro-immigration group admitting over a hundred thousand immigrants from all over the world...but throwing a fit over 49x South Africans fleeing their nation...this is very illuminating as to what the original goals of the program actually are. -----END TEARLINE----- Analyst Comments: Viewing the India/Pakistan conflict through a more west-centric lens is unlikely to be the best course of action as this perspective will result in lots of expectations that are not common in this part of the world. Generally speaking, for a "ceasefire" to actually be called such, the "fire" must "cease". However, in the Third World, an "immediate ceasefire" does not often translate to an immediate ceasefire. Most military units in this part of the world operate quite unilaterally; as risky as this is to international security, this is often the cultural norm. What's probably quite likely is that a blend of ego, caste, and communications breakdown was the reasoning behind the multiple ceasefire violations reported on both sides since it went into effect. More strategically, this recent spat highlights just how dicey international relations have become. Many may wonder as to why one day the United States' official stance on the conflict was that it was "none of our business" (according to VP Vance), but the very next day the United States announced the brokering of a ceasefire. While this could be for any number of reasons, it could also be due to India striking a nuclear weapon storage depot in Pakistan. Indian Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti (the mastermind of this military campaign) flat-out denied that India had conducted any strike on the Kirana Hills nuclear weapons storage facility...but while he was saying these words, he was smirking, leading many to believe the exact opposite of what he said and that India really did strike this strategic storage site in Pakistan. President Trump said as much during a press conference, in which he causally remarked that the United States stopped a nuclear war between these two nations. While this could simply be President Trump bragging (as he is prone to do quite often) he's probably telling the truth this time in the most literal sense. Either way, the craters at the site are real enough, and did not spring up out of thin air. Someone struck this storage depot, and India was almost certainly the one that did it. The potential for Pakistan to conduce a false-flag attack on themselves is certainly possible, however most military strategists consider Pakistan's military to be rather unbalanced in war against India (as in India's military is vastly more capable than Pakistan's). Thus, Pakistan would need all of the weaponry they could get their hands on, and any false-flag attack that Pakistan might decide on would probably take place at some other location, and not anything they actually would need to win a war. It's always a balance of what one personally believes is most likely (which is usually based on very incomplete information), but it would be a classically-Indian response to strike the entrance tunnel to a nuke storage site simply because Pakistan embarrassed them by shooting down one of their newest and most capable fighter aircraft (the combat loss of the Rafale at the beginning of this conflict). Upon learning of the strikes at increasingly-serious locations, and the potential for nuclear weapons to become involved, the United States probably intervened rather quickly to put this conflict to bed as best they could, before the world figured out the palpable irony of two third-world powers (one of which is a staunch US "ally") involving nuclear weapons in a very low-profile border squabble. For the western world, the military use of nuclear weapons is a last-resort that is so rarely considered one might argue that it won't ever happen...but between India and Pakistan, the use of nuclear weapons is often the first choice among both parties, with only a small conventional war taking place to justify their use to the world. The nature of these nations being on full display to the world is rather interesting in the context of the United States simultaneously also being involved in non-proliferation efforts elsewhere...while their own ally (on one side) and trade partner (on the other side) fight dirty on the subcontinent. //The Wire//2300Z May 8, 2025// //ROUTINE// //BLUF: INDIA PAKISTAN SHELLING OF BORDER REGION CONTINUES, FEW CASUALTIES REPORTED. AX ATTACK STRIKES WARSAW. IED DETONATED AT CATHOLIC CHURCH IN PENNSYLVANIA.//  -----BEGIN TEARLINE-----   -International Events- Poland: Yesterday afternoon an assailant conducted an ax attack at the University of Warsaw. One woman was beheaded during the attack, and a security guard was seriously wounded. The attacker was detained at the scene. AC: As is common throughout Europe, the identity of the attacker has not been released and all photos of the assailant have so far been censored to protect his identity. Vatican City: This morning a new Pope was elected. Cardinal Robert Prevost was selected to become Pope, taking the name of Leo XIV.  -HomeFront- Pennsylvania: Yesterday a man was arrested for detonating an IED inside the Rectory at St. Teresa Calcutta Church in Mahanoy City on Tuesday. Authorities arrested Kyle Kuczynski the next day after he was identified via security camera footage. The explosive device caused significant damage to the altar, and several windows were blown out due to the explosion. -----END TEARLINE----- Analyst Comments: In Pakistan and India, sporadic fighting has remained constant over the past few days, though efforts by both sides fall short of what most would consider a war. Random drone attacks by both sides have taken place throughout Kashmir and along the border regions in both countries. Heavy artillery barrages have remained constant since this whole affair began, however few (if any) casualties have been reported by either side due to this shelling. At the moment, casualty figures are impossible to verify with any shred of accuracy, but the numbers have been extremely low compared to the intense fighting being reported. So far, less than 50x fatal casualties have been reported on all sides, including instances of Civilian Casualties (CIVCAS) which make up the bulk of casualties right now. Most of the videos being posted to social media are either AI-generated or (more commonly) are of random conflicts around the world. This afternoon, some local media sources claim that India has opened the sluice gates to at least one dam that was previously restricting the flow of water into Pakistan. If this is true, this is very likely a de-escalatory action that is probably intended to reduce the severity of whatever limited counterattack Pakistan has in mind. Regarding that expected counterattack, so far it's hard to determine if any such action has occurred beyond the clashes along the border. Analyst: S2A1 Research: //END REPORT//

//The Wire//2300Z May 7, 2025// //ROUTINE// //BLUF: INDIA/PAKISTAN SPAT REMAINS SHORT OF FULL-BLOWN WAR, SITUATION TENUOUS REGARDLESS. USS TRUMAN LOSES ANOTHER AIRCRAFT OVERBOARD. STRATEGIC BUILDUP AT DIEGO GARCIA CONTINUES.//  -----BEGIN TEARLINE-----   -International Events- India/Pakistan: Though an all-out war has not yet begun, tensions remain high following yesterday's missile strikes. Examination of various debris fields does confirm that several Indian aircraft were shot down, including what looks to be the first combat loss of a Dassault Rafale fighter aircraft. However the total number of platforms lost overnight remains unclear. AC: For the moment, Pakistan has not conducted their counterattack yet, all of last-night's activities were knee-jerk defensive moves and not a deliberately planned counteroffensive. Red Sea/HOA: Yesterday President Trump announced a cessation of hostilities against the Houthi government due to the Houthis ceasing their targeting of commercial shipping. A few hours after this announcement, a Houthi spokesman stated that this is not true, and that the war is still on as before. In the Red Sea, the USS HARRY S TRUMAN suffered another aviation mishap, which involved the loss of another F/A-18 due to a failure of arresting gear during flight operations. Due to this failure, the pilot and weapons officer both ejected from the aircraft as it fell off of the flight deck. AC: Despite the PR disaster of losing two aircraft to mishaps within 7 days, these types of events happen fairly often. Arresting cables snap all the time, and sometimes there isn't enough airspeed left to successfully abort the landing and take off again. Aviation operations onboard an aircraft carrier are a risky business, and the increase in mishaps is often directly related to an increase in optempo. Regardless, the loss of a total of three aircraft, which are bombing a country that does not have any air force whatsoever, is not entirely a good look. Indian Ocean: The strategic buildup of bomber aircraft continues as 2x B-52 Stratofortress aircraft have forward deployed to Diego Garcia to supplement the 6x B2 Spirit stealth bombers already on the island. Two more B-52's have been observed by plane watchers heading toward the island as well, which would bring the total of B-52's to 4x. AC: The continual forward deployment of strategic resources to this island continues to present indications and warnings of a major military campaign. Additionally, this deployment highlights discrepancies with the rhetoric involving war with Iran. Russia: This afternoon Moscow's airspace was closed due to a mass Ukrainian drone attack. This was the first much anticipated drone attack that was expected to take place during Russia's celebration of Victory Day (and the festivities and parades taking place around May 9th). Russia's MoD states that 524x Ukrainian drones have been shot down over the past 24 hours. AC: These numbers obviously can't be independently confirmed, but it sounds about right. Ukraine, having shown obviously no interest in participating in a ceasefire, is heavily invested in doubling down to make a show during Victory Day events and parades. This is not only because a lot of functional military hardware is already staged in Moscow, but also because a lot of foreign dignitaries are visiting. China's Xi Jinping arrived in Moscow this morning, and his presence alone raises the stakes of the war on both sides. Over the next 24-48 hours, Russia will be very concerned with defending the airspace of her capital city...and Ukraine will be very motivated to target it.  -HomeFront- U.S.A. - Around the nation the REAL ID Act went into effect today. This means that only certain types of identification documents will be accepted by TSA for travel by air. AC: If you are planning any aviation travel this week, it might be a good idea to get in the TSA line early and expect delays (or in many cases, minor fistfights) from travelers who are unaware of the ID requirements to fly. South Carolina: A murder suspect has been arrested following a crime spree (including a high-profile murder) over the weekend. Logan Federico was murdered in Columbia in what appears to be a home invasion. Authorities state that Alexander Dickey was burglarizing each home along Cyprus Street, murdering the victim when he encountered her inside one of the residences. Houston: A man armed with a knife was shot and killed by police in the parking lot of the Kelsey Seybold Clinic on Cyprus Creek Parkway. No solid details have been released regarding this incident, however claims have been made by local media that the incident arose after the man was found living in his vehicle in the parking lot. After police approached the man, he refused to leave, and eventually pulled a knife that resulted in the police shooting. Alabama: One person has been arrested following a fatal vehicle accident involving a semi truck in Thomasville. Yesterday morning, Andrii Dmyterko (an immigrant in the United States on a work visa) was arrested for causing a pileup after he failed to notice vehicles stopped at a traffic signal. The resulting crash killed two people and injured four others. -----END TEARLINE----- Analyst Comments: Violent crime season is indeed in full swing already this year, with multiple horrific crimes taking place around the nation over the past few days. It's too soon to tell if the baseline of murders and attacks is higher than usual this year, however it's a good idea to remain aware of these things anyway. In Yemen, clearly someone somewhere is lying. At this point, it's almost equally possible that either side in this conflict seeks to save face. The United States military, the best professional fighting force by a wide margin, does not maintain total air superiority in the skies over Yemen. The loss of over twenty drones over the past year or so to a rag-tag ethnic group in the desert is embarrassing. On the other hand, bombing every military target that remains static for a few hours has to have some serious impact on the Houthi's ability to wage war. As such, the Houthis could be lying, in which case they did accept some sort of backdoor peace agreement and are trying to save face regarding their capitulation. Or the United States is lying, and is looking for an egress method from this bombing campaign that has become a very costly war. Costly if not from a budgetary means, but because China is paying attention to how the war is being waged in Yemen. And so far, the Houthis have proven that a small, haphazardly-organized ethnic group, which doesn't have hardly any advanced technology, can still contest the airspace over their part of the world and prevent the US Air Force from maintaining air superiority. In short, if the Houthis can give the US military a run for their money (even if the Houthis eventually do lose most engagements), this is important combat data for other American military aspirations around the globe. Either way, time will tell. The 6x B2 Spirit stealth bombers and their tankers are still forward deployed to Diego Garcia and have been supplemented by what is likely to be a total of 4x B-52s as well. Tiktokers still have smartphones in Yemen, so if the bombings continue unabated we can more accurately assess who's telling the truth. Analyst: S2A1 Research: //END REPORT//

//The Wire//2300Z May 5, 2025// //ROUTINE// //BLUF: REVENGE KILLING IN OHIO, PROBABLE REVENGE KILLING ATTEMPTED IN INDIANA. WHITE HOUSE STATES NO TIMELINE FOR EPSTEIN DOC RELEASE. ISRAEL ANNOUNCES PLAN TO COMPLETELY OCCUPY GAZA.//  -----BEGIN TEARLINE-----   -International Events- Middle East: Israeli media has announced that Netanyahu's cabinet has approved plans to completely seize control of Gaza. Local Israeli media has stated that another general mobilization is underway, with tens of thousands of reservists being calling into active service in the IDF.  -HomeFront- Washington D.C. - Significant scandal erupted over the weekend in Congress as House Resolution 867 was introduced for a vote. The bill sought to modify the text of 50 USC 4841 and 4842 (both being wartime trade laws) to restrict American's ability to boycott certain nations and groups (according to the bill's sponsors, specifically one nation, Israel). After the expected backlash, the vote on this bill has been postponed. AC: Most of the outrage over this is really related to the already-passed Anti-Boycott Act of 2018, which went almost completely unnoticed by the chaos of the COVID years. H.R. 867 merely sought to change the terminology so that the term "international government organization" was placed after the words "foreign country" in the text of 50 USC § 4841. What this means in practice is anyone's guess as the original law was passed with extremely vague and broad language. This additional aspect of adding IGO's to the mix is interesting in that it provides a clue as to what manipulations are being undertaken in Washington on this issue. Previously the laws only applied to government-level boycotts...but adding in IGOs could mean that the floodgates are opened for all of this to impact the average American. Washington D.C. - During a press conference the White House has stated that there is no specific timeline for the release of the Epstein files. AC: Though this was probably the case all along, there is almost zero chance that these files will ever be released. Following the binder-scandal of two months ago, a lot of older previously-known documentation will eventually be re-released and touted as new, but the files that everyone wants (as in Epstein's client list that does exist and was presented in court) will almost certainly never be made public. Ohio: A police officer was murdered as part of a revenge killing incident in Cincinnati. A traffic control officer was intentionally struck by a vehicle Friday afternoon near the University of Cincinnati. The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Rodney Hinton Jr, who is the father of Ryan Hinton, a black male that was shot and killed by police on Thursday for drawing a gun on police officers who discovered him inside a stolen vehicle they were attempting to locate. AC: Not many details are being released on this incident, probably to reduce the palpably high tensions regarding this incident. Though the timing is hard to verify, local media reports that Rodney Hinton was shown the body cam footage of his son's death, which confirmed beyond all doubt that the police shooting was justified. After viewing the video, Hinton promptly left the police station and proceeded to murder what seems to be a random officer not specifically involved in the incident. Since this was very much a knee-jerk revenge killing, it's hard to imagine that Hinton would have murdered the correct police officer involved in his son's killing (even if it's because the officers involved in the shooting are probably on administrative leave as is standard procedure). However, now that the situation has become a high profile incident, the security concerns to the officers who are actually involved with the prior shooting are exceptionally high, thus the little information regarding the link between these two cases. Indiana: This morning a man was shot after drawing a firearm on police officers attempting to carry out an inmate transfer at the Hendricks County Courthouse. Two officers opened fire on the man, killing him at the scene. -----END TEARLINE----- Analyst Comments: The incident in Indiana could be another revenge killing attempt, though possibly for very different reasons. Local media is running the story that the would-be shooter was the great-grandfather of two children who were killed during a police chase back in February. Regarding that earlier case, S'Doni Pettis was spotted driving a stolen vehicle by police, and decided to engage in a high-speed chase with two infants in the vehicle with him. The chase ended when Pettis crashed into another vehicle, killing one of the infants and critically wounding the other. Pettis was on probation at the time after a sweetheart plea deal allowed him to remain a free man earlier than usual instead of being in prison on charges of attempted murder (charges which were reduced as part of the plea deal). Returning to the incident that occurred this morning, Pettis was scheduled to be in court today, facing a hearing regarding that earlier incident involving the children. Therefore it's possible that a family member of those two children was attempting to kill him as retribution for Pettis' actions. On the other hand, it's also possible that the suspect's family member was trying to spring him from custody as be was being brought into court. At the moment, it's impossible to determine what actually happened. A random person pointing a gun at police during an inmate transfer is not the time or place to undertake a calm debate to determine causation. After the incident is over, not much detail is expected to be released either; even though it would be helpful from a risk management perspective to know what the true cause of this shooting was, authorities don't want to encourage vigilantism in any way, regardless of the context. In the Middle East, the claims of Israel taking over Gaza completely have been made many times before, but this time the plans have become more solidified as the Cabinet has allegedly publicly voted on such now. Israel has also completely invaded Gaza in the past, however this time the openly-stated goal is to totally displace the entire surviving non-Israeli population from the region completely. This is a much different tone than Israel occupying Gaza and allowing the Palestinian population to remain, as they have done periodically in the past. In a larger sense, the elephant in the room is the bigger issue, but in practical terms this move will probably have many different impacts in very short order. Houthi attacks will increase as a knee-jerk reaction to this announcement, and the conflict in Syria will probably escalate as that war is largely a proxy space for settling many different issues. The Iranians probably won't do anything at all; if they haven't really done anything regarding the plight of those in Gaza earlier (when the regular and indiscriminate targeting of civilian centers was at it's height), it's very unlikely they will do anything at this point either. Hezbollah to the north in Lebanon likewise probably won't do much, but some indirect-fire in the form of rocket attacks may take place over the next few days. It's been a comparatively long time since any significant rocket attacks were seen originating from Lebanon, but if there were ever an occasion to see an increase in these attacks, now would be the time. More indirectly, this news probably provides some hints at the truth pertaining to the recent (and public) infighting in the White House and Pentagon. For the past few weeks, major indications and warnings of an impending war with Iran have been palpable. But now, the words *not* said are deafening...Israel suddenly announcing plans to do what they originally set out to do in the first place could indicate that they don't have the United States to do their bidding as much as they might like with regards to taking on Iran (as hard as this is to believe). This is a bit of a stretch, but Israel announcing plans to "clean out that whole thing" (to quote President Trump himself) probably means that Israel will have their hands full with Gaza for a while. Of course, this could all be a ruse to disguise and distract from an open war with Iran. As deception is a huge part of this conflict, this always remains a possibility, and it would do well to remember that strategic American resources are still forward-deployed to the region, so an American war with Iran is certainly still on the table.
