Day 11: My legs are getting stronger and I got a good night’s sleep. Overall, I am feeling good. The two pictures are from 7500 feet elevation overlooking Palm Springs. I am going into a town called Idylwild today. This is one of the nicest towns on the trail.

Day 10: From the recent snow/rain.

Day 10: Trail Crew.

Day 10: We are hiking to mile 160 today, then a short 9 mile day tomorrow. Reports are ice on the trail at mile 169 making it impossible to pass. Day after tomorrow will be my first zero day. Flower picture for Rosie. - Grant

Day 10: We made it to the cafe.

Day 10: 2 miles to town and a cafe. My legs are killing me. - Grant 2 people air lifted out of San Jacinto.

Day 9: 23 miles (yesterday), now at camp. 6 miles from town. Looking forward to breakfast in town tomorrow.

Day 9: 1 week down, 120 miles hiked. Could have been closer to 130 if it was not for bad weather. “The mountain in the distance is taunting me.”

Day 8: “Flowers for Rosie.”

Day 8: Back on the trail. Misty rain. Eagle Rock and bad weather up ahead.

Day 8: Most of the gang from last night. Many people staying in town because of the weather. No other towns for 60 miles. Heading out! Onward!

Day 8: “We are about to head out into some unpleasant weather, but we all agree, it’s not worth staying in this town another night.”

Day 8: Weather Report. Cold and Windy until 11 pm and then the remainder of the week looks pretty good.

Day 7: Lodging. Waiting out the storm.

Day 7: Grant and his trail mates have found a room in town. Snow and rain overnight, better weather tomorrow. Grant reports “Looking forward to the next 100 miles.”

Day 7:

Day 7: “Early start with the group this morning, best picture yet.” Grant is coming up on a small town called Ranchita. The town is just beyond mile 100. Bad weather moving in tonight.

Day 6: Photo sent in overnight EST. “One of the nicest spots so far to take a picture.”

Day 6: Grant and the crew.

Day 6: First word from Grant in 24 hours: “We found a campsite that had showers and laundry, so we washed up this morning and hit the trail around noon. Going for mile 92-93.”
