Day 51:
700 miles down and we made it to Kennedy Meadows
Made it to Kennedy Meadows , taking 2 days off, then time to summit the highest peak in the USA, bought Ice axe , crampons , and bear vault , shit getting real.
Day 45:
We have a 13 mile hike today and will be staying in a cabin this evening. 1500 feet of elevation over the first 3 miles, then the rest of the hike will be easy.
Beautiful flowers along the hike today…
Day 43:
Last night we camped at mile 594.
We will pass mile 600 today. Kennedy Meadows will be the celebration.
Finally out of the desert and wind.
The Sierras start at mile 700.
Day 24:
I will camp at the trailhead tonight and start again tomorrow.
Our biggest concern at the moment is making it to the Sierras too early.
If I knew I was this strong I would have picked a later start date.
There are very few people ahead of us. We are the crew keeping the map up to date now.
Day 19:
Some days can be tough, but a good meal or a beautiful sunset makes it worth it.
Today we hiked into a small town near Big Bear Lake. I have been on the trail for the last 4 days. Tonight I have booked a room alone.
8 others got an Air BNB, but I wanted to be alone for the night. I will do laundry, eat a good meal, and rest. I will meet with the others on the way back to the trail tomorrow morning.
