Day 12:

Day 12:
Despite bad weather coming in over the weekend, we are going to get back on the trail tomorrow.
We will hike until the weather gets bad and then set up a camp.

Showered and off to eat. 170 miles in 10 days.
This will be home for the next 2 days.

Grant at the summit
Waiting on a few others to get up and then we head down into idylwild.
Day 11:
Camp at 7500 feet, difficult climb with significant ice and snow.
Will not be able to summit San Jacinto.

My legs are getting stronger and I got a good night’s sleep. Overall, I am feeling good.

I am going into a town called Idylwild today. This is one of the nicest towns on the trail.

We are hiking to mile 160 today, then a short 9 mile day tomorrow.
Reports are ice on the trail at mile 169 making it impossible to pass.
Day after tomorrow will be my first zero day.

We made it to the cafe.

2 miles to town and a cafe. My legs are killing me. - Grant
2 people air lifted out of San Jacinto.
Day 9:
23 miles (yesterday), now at camp. 6 miles from town. Looking forward to breakfast in town tomorrow.
Day 9:
1 week down, 120 miles hiked. Could have been closer to 130 if it was not for bad weather.

Most of the gang from last night. Many people staying in town because of the weather. No other towns for 60 miles.
