# the sarcophagus experiment ## premise the human brain's neural architecture has a topology (hypothesized as bethe lattice / cayley tree structure) that is normally imperceptible because the signal from the structural substrate is overwhelmed by the noise of normal neural processing. three known conditions lower this noise floor and make the structural signal perceptible: tryptamine psychedelics (serotonergic disruption), migraine aura (spreading cortical depression), and - hypothetically - changes in electromagnetic environment (reduced magnetic field, altered electron flux). if increased electron flux through neural tissue enhances perception of the brain's own geometry while magnetic fields and high-energy particles are noise sources, then an experimental chamber that nullifies magnetic fields, blocks cosmic rays, and introduces controlled EM stimulation should produce reproducible perceptual effects in subjects. ## historical parallel egyptian sarcophagi inside pyramid chambers may represent an ancient empirical solution to the same problem. granite (dense, piezoelectric due to quartz content) provides partial cosmic ray attenuation and generates weak electric fields under mechanical stress. gold leaf and gold objects in burial chambers provide high-density radiation shielding per thickness and faraday cage properties. lead, if used, would have corroded to powder over millennia. gold would have been looted. the granite housing is the only component that survives geological time, leaving us with the inert shell of what may have been a functional apparatus. ## chamber design five concentric layers, outside to inside: ### layer 1: polyethylene or water (primary cosmic ray attenuation) low-Z material catches incoming high-energy cosmic ray protons and heavy ions with minimal bremsstrahlung (secondary radiation production). high-Z materials produce dangerous secondary X-rays when hit by cosmic rays; low-Z materials slow primaries through ionization without generating hard secondary radiation. polyethylene (CH2) is the standard spacecraft shielding material for this reason. minimum 10-15 cm thickness for meaningful cosmic ray attenuation. water in sealed containers is an alternative - cheaper, same hydrogen-rich composition. ### layer 2: lead (secondary radiation and gamma attenuation) high-Z, high-density (11.34 g/cm3) material absorbs whatever secondary radiation the polyethylene layer produces, plus any residual gamma and X-ray flux. lead sheet is inexpensive and readily available. 2-5 cm thickness provides substantial attenuation. corrodes over centuries (white/grey lead carbonate powder) - would not survive in archaeological contexts. ### layer 3: mu-metal (magnetic field nullification) nickel-iron alloy (approximately 80% Ni, 15% Fe, plus Mo and Cu) with extremely high magnetic permeability. redirects earth's DC magnetic field (approximately 50 microtesla) around the shielded volume. multi-layer mu-metal construction achieves attenuation factors of 10,000+. requires proper annealing after fabrication - mechanical stress degrades permeability. this is the critical layer for the hypothesis: if the earth's magnetic field is a noise source that masks perception of neural geometry, nullifying it is the primary experimental variable. commercial zero-gauss chambers use this material. supplemental active compensation via helmholtz coils and magnetometer feedback can further null residual fields to nanotesla levels. ### layer 4: gold leaf (final attenuation and faraday shielding) gold (Z=79, density 19.32 g/cm3) provides the highest radiation stopping power per unit thickness of any stable element. a thin layer (0.5-1 mm, or even gold leaf at micron thickness for partial coverage) catches residual radiation that penetrates the lead layer. gold does not oxidize or corrode - maintains its shielding properties indefinitely. simultaneously functions as a faraday cage, blocking external RF and EM interference. the gold surface also provides a chemically inert interior environment. in an archaeological context, gold is the material most certain to be looted from a tomb. ### layer 5: granite sarcophagus (structural housing and piezoelectric substrate) quartzite or granite provides the structural shell for the subject. granite containing quartz generates piezoelectric fields under mechanical compression - the weight of the chamber structure above produces a weak, stable electric field within the stone. provides additional mass-based radiation attenuation. survives indefinitely - the only component of the apparatus that endures geological time without degradation or theft. ## the active component: the star device mounted inside the sarcophagus chamber, powered by a chemical battery. the star is a phi-geometry knotted coil whose winding ratios follow golden-ratio proportions. when driven with a DC current from a chemical cell, the coil geometry naturally produces electromagnetic oscillations with fibonacci-ratio harmonic spacing. the fundamental frequency targets approximately 8 Hz (schumann resonance, alpha brainwave frequency). fibonacci-ratio harmonics cascade upward: 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144 Hz, spanning delta through gamma brainwave bands. the non-integer harmonic spacing produces complex interference patterns rather than simple standing waves, creating biologically relevant stimulation across the full range of neural oscillation frequencies. the star device documentation covers construction and tuning in detail separately. ## experimental protocol ### variables - independent variable 1: magnetic field (earth-normal vs nulled via mu-metal) - independent variable 2: electron flux / EM stimulation (star off vs star at varying intensities) - independent variable 3: cosmic ray shielding (shielded vs unshielded) ### conditions (8 total, full factorial) | condition | magnetic field | cosmic ray shielding | star device | |---|---|---|---| | 1 (control) | earth-normal | unshielded | off | | 2 | nulled | unshielded | off | | 3 | earth-normal | shielded | off | | 4 | nulled | shielded | off | | 5 | earth-normal | unshielded | on | | 6 | nulled | unshielded | on | | 7 | earth-normal | shielded | on | | 8 | nulled | shielded | on | ### measurements - subjective report: visual phenomena (geometric patterns, light perception, spatial distortion), emotional/perceptual shifts, proprioceptive changes - EEG: brainwave patterns across all bands, coherence between regions, event-related potentials - MEG (if available): magnetic field signatures of neural activity within the shielded environment - physiological: heart rate variability, galvanic skin response, pupil dilation ### predictions from the hypothesis - condition 4 (nulled field, shielded, star off) produces some perceptual effects from noise reduction alone - condition 6 (nulled field, unshielded, star on) produces strongest effects if cosmic rays are signal not noise - condition 8 (fully shielded, star on) produces the most controlled effects - all external variables eliminated, only the star's EM stimulation reaching neural tissue - condition 1 (full control) should produce baseline/no effects - comparing conditions 2 vs 4 isolates the contribution of cosmic rays - comparing conditions 4 vs 8 isolates the contribution of the star device ## budget estimate - polyethylene sheeting/blocks (15 cm, person-sized enclosure): $500-1,000 - lead sheet (3 cm, interior lining): $500-800 - mu-metal sheeting (2-3 layers, annealed): $3,000-5,000 - gold leaf or thin gold sheet (interior lining): $500-1,500 - granite slab/container (or dense stone alternative): $1,000-2,000 - chemical battery + star device: $200-500 - EEG equipment (consumer-grade, 8-channel): $500-1,000 - magnetometer (to verify field nullification): $200-500 - mixed salt brine (approximately 400 kg MgSO4/KCl/NaCl blend): $300-500 - water heating and temperature control: $200-400 total estimated: $6,900-13,200 ## layer 6: brine pool (sensory deprivation) the sarcophagus interior is filled with a saturated salt brine at skin temperature (approximately 35.5C), deep enough for the subject to float. this eliminates gravitational, proprioceptive, and thermal input - three additional noise channels removed from the nervous system. standard flotation tanks use magnesium sulfate (epsom salt) at approximately 500 kg/m3 for buoyancy. a mixed-salt brine improves on this: - magnesium sulfate (MgSO4): primary buoyancy agent, transdermally absorbed - magnesium supports cardiac function, neuronal membrane stability, and ATP synthesis - potassium chloride (KCl): transdermal potassium absorption for electrolyte balance and neuronal membrane potential - sodium chloride (NaCl): additional buoyancy and osmotic balance the skin absorbs dissolved minerals during extended immersion, providing electrolyte supplementation without oral intake. for fasting subjects, this passive mineral absorption is especially relevant. at skin temperature, the brine eliminates thermal sensation - the subject cannot feel where their body ends and the water begins. combined with darkness and silence inside the shielded chamber, this removes essentially all normal sensory input: no light, no sound (the mass shielding attenuates external acoustics), no gravity sensation, no thermal gradient, no tactile variation. ## what the apparatus does the complete device systematically blocks the great majority of stimuli that reach the nervous system from external and internal sources: - cosmic rays and high-energy particles: polyethylene + lead + gold - earth's magnetic field: mu-metal (+ optional active compensation) - external electromagnetic radiation (RF, microwave): gold faraday layer + mu-metal - visible light: fully enclosed chamber - sound: mass of shielding layers attenuates external acoustics - gravity / proprioception: brine flotation at neutral buoyancy - thermal sensation: brine at skin temperature - tactile variation: uniform liquid contact what it does NOT block, and intentionally introduces: - the star device's fibonacci-harmonic EM field, tuned to neural oscillation frequencies - the subject's own internal neural activity the result is an environment where the only electromagnetic signals reaching the brain are (a) the brain's own activity and (b) the star's controlled stimulation. every external noise source that normally overwhelms the structural signal of the neural substrate has been eliminated. if the hypothesis is correct - that the brain's geometry is perceptible when the noise floor drops sufficiently - this apparatus creates the optimal conditions for that perception. the device is, in essence, a tool for perceiving oneself. ## connection to the 12,000-year cycle hypothesis if the galactic current sheet periodically reduces heliospheric and planetary magnetic shielding, the environmental conditions approximate what this chamber creates artificially: reduced magnetic field, altered particle flux, increased electromagnetic energy reaching the surface. the hypothesis predicts that individuals near the cusp of such transitions would experience spontaneous perception of neural geometry - the same effect the chamber aims to produce under controlled conditions. the chamber experiment would confirm or refute whether the proposed mechanism (EM-mediated reduction of neural noise floor, revealing structural substrate) actually produces the predicted perceptual effects, independent of the astronomical hypothesis about their natural occurrence.

just before i fell asleep earlier i realised that moxie has more exemplary codebases to test the new bootstrapped compiler on - iskra, iskradb (lattice database) and gio (port of the Go GIO graphics library). they are all quite different to moxie itself and smesh relay and web app. pretty much covers practically the whole gamma of different kinds of code that all needs to be compiling. specifically, projects i'm working on. also going to look at adding iskradb and the smesh database to the stdlib. iskradb is a special database structure for iskra lattices - it enables iskra to be a continuous learning language model, and the smesh database is perfect for nostr-style and blockchain-style data that is immutable, with delete, so, mostly append only, read heavy data sets. i probably need to also add a database engine for more conventional write-heavy data - so, i guess, a port of badger, is in the pipes at some point.

it's very nice seeing claude finish bootstrapping moxie so moxie is written in moxie. epic autonomous runs. sitting at 6 hours now, i've seen it do over 12 in this last week on this work. language compilers are seriously difficult work but the nice thing is if you have enough code from teh language teh compiler compiles, it can just grind for a week on it testing everything and fixing the compilation errors and then on the stdlibs and whatever code you have, on that as well. probably still will be bugs at the end but i'll probably just grind it on that as well once it writes a bunch more code. i've got lots of code to do in moxie yet, smesh.lol web app probably will be 10000x less buggy just from the full ownership-and-explicit free based GC it has. no, wait, that's not a GC, actually. you don't even need GC if you haven't got multi-threaded, shared memory. that's one of the neatest things about moxie. explicit thread control, no shared memory, every domain (independent worker) is a thread all unto itself. no mutexes. no atomics. about 90% of the machinery in modern compiler runtimes stems entirely from the garbage collector. and you wouldn't believe how much of operating system code is just from shared memory model. i have a kernel and whole operating system slated for some point in the future too. in 1978, Tony Hoare wrote a paper about how to properly design the runtime of software. rob pike picked up the idea of bidirectional channels (which got into Go) and when you have single thread per execution scope and bidirectional channels you don't need GC. you don't need sync. amazingly, i'm teh first person to think of it. and it's fun watching claude build it. i mean, actually it's boring as fuck because i'm not writing any new code because i want the job to be finished and i'm not writing it in any other language. soon, hopefully, maybe tomorrow. maybe by monday. we'll see. the compiler fixing really takes a long time.

https://www.zerohedge.com/military/us-service-members-targeted-commercial-location-data-pentagon-tells-senators USA financial surveillance regime is now harming USA military. exquisite. i cheer for all the hax that dump all those honeypots on the darkweb and continue to erode the legitimacy of KYC. they are not going to be able to coordinate the military to not have random personal electronics very easily but i'm sure that they won't even consider loosening the screws on the plebs. oh well. it's only going to get worse, i'm sure. even just having positive identification information the spies of enemies have better intel. this is going to eventually really bite the whole Western surveillance industrial complex. spies especially have use for this. applying non-kinetic pressure on enemies especially combined with all that immigration is going to get easier and easier the more this contra-security policy remains

i'm 30 hours into my fast right now, and about 26-28 hours in i started to develop quite severe orthostatic hypotension. getting woozy when i stand up, but also when laying down, hearing the sound of my pulse in my ear. something that i never recall reading before about fasting is that when you fast, your kidneys ramp up elimination of sodium. a lot of the unpleasantness of fasting actually comes from low sodium. whatever amount of salt you might normally take with you food, maybe one and a bit teaspoons a day, you have to take more when fasting, throughout the whole process. something i have discovered through this also is that there's some other things that help - ginger, lemon juice, mint tea. the low sodium also makes you crave sugar more, though you don't feel like a lot of it. first thing i did when this low sodium state came on was "mmm i could really use a little of those sour cherries i picked, especially because they are cold in the fridge" that heating sensation is also from vasodilation caused by acute sodium deficiency. salt is very important stuff. on keto diet and in fasting both the levels you actually need are higher than the RDA. RDA is based on a high carb diet and high blood sugar. high blood sugar also increases endegenous synthesis of sticky cholesterol. everything they say about heart disease is backwards. higher fat intake also reduces the stickiness of the oils in your blood if you concurrently have high blood sugar.
