Opossum update. Two more died. The one I pulled out of the pouch is still alive and making the cutest hissing noises (see video in quote post). - I’ve been able to gently get a few drops of water in her mouth and successfully stimulated urination. She’s got strength and she’s active. I’m picking up plain, unflavored Pedialyte and Esbilac puppy milk replacer today. If she makes it, it’s going to be an every 3–5 hour thing for weeks. I was driving to the store tonight and came across what looked like a murder scene. A mother opossum had been hit. Her babies—still pouch-young—were scattered across the road. - Some were already gone. A few were still moving. I checked the mother and opened the pouch. There were still babies inside. I carefully removed the ones that showed signs of life. I brought them home and set up a warm nest to keep them alive through the night. One has a broken leg. No idea how many will make it. People fly down these roads without thinking. Please send positive vibes that they make it through the night. #IKITAO
