☀️Morning Reflection☀️ grab a hot cuppa ☕ programming is a specialist skill. you do not just learn it overnight. it takes a lot of practice and continuous learning esp. when new tech arrives. I'd say I am very inquisitive and I love to tinker things under the hood from a software perspective. I have been coding for 20 years now. I used to lead a team of programmers. Been a consultant in one of the Big 4 and worked in private and public sectors. And had been awarded as analyst of the year in the UK! You may say so what? — who gives a f*ck? I am sharing my creds here so I can fairly say that in my short experience in the tech world, I am in a position to say I know something about programming. Though my face and content may not seem like it. I don't promote this side of me bcoz it's not what I am here for. But I am bringing this up bcoz I am seeing divided opinions about nostr dev't and pending challenges which I already shared in my previous notes. Btw, I still experience these challenges. Seeing closed-off or even defensive response to critique is not new to me. It is in every industry but also very common in the tech space. It is also in human nature. But I'll say this, just because you can spin a website it does not make you an expert. Just because you can create a product using AI does not make you an expert. We have this expression in the industry "script kiddies", people who copy code from the internet without "understanding" what it does and wonder why it breaks the product! When I QA work, I don't normally allow this in my watch. It is ok to use code from other people (attributing their work), we do it a lot and that's how we learn. But please understand how it will be interwoven with the rest of the code! The bottom line is this, welcome constructive feedback! Of course you can run and spin whatever nostr client you fancy — knock yourself out. But do not be surprised why some users are pissed by your product. I'll say it again, users and devs are in a symbiotic relationship. Let's not delude ourselves into thinking that division and telling your users they are dumb is ever going to work. Yes, we've come far and that is impressive. However, do not condescend to those people who are trying to help nostr get better. Do not alienate the very people who are rooting for nostr's success and its longevity. Shutting down critique and telling people to leave is not how you handle constructive feedback. It pains me to see this and I can only hope we do better in this space if we truly want nostr to live and be adopted widely. Yes, I am trying to do something in the background myself too.
