Have you ever experienced when you find a complete stranger as: "trouble" or "malicious actor" or "someone you do not want in your orbit" even though you hardly know them? Something in your gut tells you but could not put a finger on it? I have it a lot of times. Sometimes I find myself hoping that "I'd be wrong". Until I hear the news about them then things fall into its rightful place. Your intuition is not pseudo-science. Listen to it because it may just be your saving grace. "Convictions are worse than the lies" I forgot who said it but I have seen it from the Criminal Minds. Convictions are part of your belief system (BS) which stirs how you see the world (perception)! Regardless whether it is lawful or not, people who have strong convictions and abide by it rigidly most often than not blur their judgement and turning BS as their own law. It does not matter whose lives they affect as collateral— all for the name of their "beliefs". So keep your EMOTIONS in check. To err is human... The easy loophole in privacy and cybersecurity is "human" that is why social engineering is effective. One of my favourite past times is to watch documentary of how people f*ck up in the dark web. You know why the malicious actors got caught despite of their technical prowess? Their human behaviours, their egos. They got too complacent, they think they are too smart and they relied too much that they are anonymous online. It only take one slip and they've given away their identity... So next time you get too cocky about your anonymity, unless you have your EMOTIONS in check, it is not about "IF" they figure out your identity, it is a matter of "WHEN". Bullying is NEVER OK regardless whether physical, verbal or cyber. Bystanders are complicit. Did you know that so many people take their own lives bcoz of bullying? Bullying can kill and it eats on your psyche, it makes you feel worthless. Bullies are deeply wounded people. It could be from their traumatic past, childhood so they want to exert power on others or inflict pain on others so they too can feel their sufferings. The best action is to NEVER ENGAGE if you can avoid it because they crave the attention. If it threatens your safety then report it. Importantly, speak to someone and share your struggles, bottling it up is never ok nor healthy. Surround yourself with people who care for you and knows you best. To bystanders of bullying or to those who condone it: You will not CARE until you are at the receiving end of malicious act. I hope there will never be a time that you have to face it.
