Did you know that it was very common to burn letters after reading them?
We have this idea that handwritten letters were these treasured things. Sometimes, but often not.

“Palantir bot, flag all accounts that have wrong-think or extremist content. Flag all of the people that follow them. Track their every move and build an ongoing case against them. Contact the FBI when the case reaches appropriate strength threshold.”
“If we add enough features to a client, it becomes an everything app.”
No… an Everything App does very few things actually. It just does them really well.
There is no everything app on nostr yet.
The government *could* read your letters, but they promise that they won’t. And they definitely inspect the “metadata” of your letters. Hold lights up to them, check for dangerous things, etc.

Why doesnt @jack just pay someone to make the Everything App on Nostr?
All this money being thrown at Underwatestr Baskestr Weavingstr and it’s doing literally nothing in terms of adoption. The race is on and Nostr is losing.

There’s a fork in the road happening. Top-down solutions to Nostr problems are arriving.
Where are the bottom-up solutions?
- Quantum proof secure private communication. We have some Nostr things in flight.
- Trade. What happened to the diagon alley and marketplace solutions on Nostr?
- proof of humanity. Nostr has nothing at the moment. Web of Trust isn’t enough. We need to enhance WOT with things like physical IRL device scanning added in to the mix to strengthen trust rankings. Or we outsource to Iris scanner companies and use ZK Proofs.
Is this legit or is it an “industry plant”? Project came out of nowhere for me.

Decentralizing XMTP
How XMTP ensures no person, company, or country is the single point of failure for the world's freedom to communicate.
In the near future, it will be normal to have different profile metadata on each relay.
There will come a time when posting the same note to multiple relays will seem not just odd but also rude.
Nepotism, secret group chats, cliques… they’re all just Sybil attacks?
Is there a nostr relay server that, before every request, runs requests through an external policy checker?
I’m gonna try making that “different relay types” idea too.
- business (view ads to post)
- club (have to be a member to post)
- municipality (get a postcard with a code in the mail to post)
- telephone pole (POW that scales with demand)
@Derek Ross @MK Fain if you add NIP-32 Labeling as an option on posts, I think you could just have a letterboxd / goodreads competitor built right in there. Just use TMDB API to search for movies and openlibrary API for books. Thoughts?
Try to quote a post manually. Another thing that is completely fragmented from app to app.
I’m removing the concept of the “profile page”. Instead, you have a Rolodex and you can visit Places. Everyone is like a detective, going from place to place, asking the owner of a place if they’ve seen a person around.

Finally, AI is building me what one could call “The Only Honest Nostr Client”.
Notes are treated like flyers that you put up at various places (relays). The most understandable analogy possible for Nostr.
Not obscuring how it works, but reveling in its simplicity.
> what does your company understand that is genuinely hard to understand, and is that understanding getting deeper every day?
> If the answer is nothing, AI is just a cost optimization story. You cut headcount, improve margins for a few quarters, and eventually get absorbed by something smarter. If the answer is deep, AI doesn't augment your company. It reveals what your company actually is.
