Discourse forums are low key underrated. I’m in several and they’re all quite nice. I don’t even particularly mind that I have to make a new account for each one (good opsec I guess). It’s actually kind of great to have an identity thst only exists within the context of a random community.
What’s the best forum software today though? Is there something better than Discourse? Lighter weight? Better account model? Etc

IRC’s identity and auth situation is wacky, but the ephemeral live hangout is very intuitive and fun.
Nostr fixes the identity situation very simply, but the signed and gossiped messages are working against the ephemeral live concept.
Playing around with solving this now with WebTransport. Just for fun basically. But I miss that ephemeral live chat stuff. Actually feels like walking into a bar idk.
