Good morning Apple has rejected wisp for the 4th time, I officially give up. They actually dove in deep enough to say that the outbox model doesn't give the user enough control over the content on their feed or connects to "unknown" relays. Use a freedom phone or build it yourself with xcode, I'm done wasting my time with this clown company.

How can they say that with a straight face when they have all the algorithmic-feed apps in their store?!

Since when tf does apple gaf about giving users control. If you want control you buy an android. image
The EU is one opening, though. Since 2024 the Digital Markets Act has forced Apple to allow alternative app marketplaces on iOS there, so EU users can install apps outside the App Store without going through their review process. Not a global fix, but it's a distribution path they can't reject.

2026 and freedom devs are still wasting their scarce time uploading freedom tech on anti-freedom bigtech app stores, yikes
Yeah, Apple sucks. This is one of the reasons the Favilla KEY serves its own client to the phone as a PWA straight off the device. No App Store, no review, nothing for them to reject. Sorry to hear about wisp though, that's a lot of work to have gated by a reviewer who doesn't get the outbox model.
Yeah, yeah, I hear you. If you mean something like the complexity of this situation, how Apple is, for example, dependent on something else that makes their app submission so (far from the first time) ridiculous, that they are also hostage in this situation in some wayβ€”I don't argue that. I mean, though, that the classic postmodern kind of satire is still appropriate in this situation. If we'd talk to them directly there, that would be a different case; that wouldn't have a change to help. I'm not a literalist there; I don't actually mean that Apple is fascist, just in case it's not clear to whoever reads it.

The thing I hate most about fixie bicycles is that you can’t backpedal.
yeah its a real concern, the idea of third parties controlling what you connect to and then monitoring your REQs. also outbox can make your client interact with rogue relays that could DoS you or send ads/spam to you for things that dont match your queries. this was the main motivation for me to create nostrdb so that my clients would be robust to these kinds of attacks if we ever decide to have it as an option on ios (client only trusts results from nostrdb, relays just dump data into there) set relay lists are still useful for organizations and if you just want to post to a platform that you trust, so i dont see it as outbox is always better. tradeoffs.
There is a double standard. Things like the Facebook app allow others to share contact info and other data about you which you have no control over.

Can you hand the project over to someone? Obviously not me i hate apple.
Apple’s App Review process: β€œYour app doesn’t give users enough control & connects to unknown relays…" Translation: "Our guideline/work is mysterious and important.” 🀣 Apple be playing games. image
Why I moved away from the Apple ecosystem, I don't miss it. And don't regret it. But...have you looked into ? As you have a Apple developers account now...

Thank you for not trying anymore. I think way more devs need this approach. As the world gets worse and worse people will realize they need freedom apps and need to switch to something more free than apple. I'm already hearing some of the bitcoin podcasters are finally attempting to switch to Linux. Nature is healing. Or at least I hope it is.
From the beginning I'm stunned why people use iPhone. You buy an iPhone, but you don't own it. You can't install apps if Apple do not approve. You can't change something as simple as a battery. When you use third party hardware it's as hard as it gets to make it run. As a whole is a terrible product.
GM fren Four rejections is painful. Keep your head up, your work matters. Nostr is about freedom and building without permission. 🫑🧑
I don't understand how people even buy a fully overpriced, locked-down phone like an iPhone or a normal Google phone which spies the hell out of them... These companies know every letter you type, they know about every photo and document you upload, profiled in extreme detail!
GrapheneOS with zero Google apps or services installed. That's what I use. Right now GrapheneOS requires you use a Google Pixel phone.
They are evil. They rejected my update after years of being in the App Store. Can’t hate them enough
They just haven't seen these masterpieces. View quoted note β†’ Just kidding, they don't care, unfortunately. Also, GrapheneOS is an important step for solving it, but it's still not a solution to absolutely everything: any chip we have in the phones could be a malicious black box that has too much access to sensitive data (including so-called Trusted Executed Environments themselves; they could be used as honeyspots).
Four rejections is wild. App store gatekeeping is the single point of failure nobody talks about. A direct APK has been the easier road for us too.
πŸ˜‚ when they spy on my phone. I wonder if it says this action violates the biblical text and your practicing immoral and unethical practices. . .I pray one day my work red flags 🚩then. . .And on that day I pray πŸ™ I get the proof 🀣
Besides my opinion on your decision and suggestions in my quote message, I'm sorry for you and your lost brain cycles while you've been in flight. PV πŸ«‚
Imagine somebody who claims to be a self sovereign, freedom and privacy minded person so dumb that they use crAPPLE products in the first place. And then participate in a crAPPLE humiliation ritual by begging and boot licking their way into the app store, only to fail FOUR times.
