On a trip passing through revitalised countryside. There's a parallel bike/rollerskating road dotted with street lights. From time to time there's a switch on the lamp post. Supposedly to light up the road - maybe on a timer? Must feel like magic when you flick it and light shoots like wild fireflies marking the path.

Forgot my EDC bag at home. Luckily I can bootstrap the day with my phone. Pay, pull up driving license, etc. Were I left on a barren island I'd probably die. But if there were an internet connection, I'd probably build a civilization. Not much of a backup plan. When the solar flare hits, the plan is to curl up and die. I have plans to plan something more feasible, just after I finish planning the handover package for if I get hit by a truck... only every time I get to that, I get stuck researching Shamir's Secret Sharing and never actually move on. #adhd

While risking looking like that one person who comes off as condescending to others because "everything is so simple - if you just use the tools that he masters" - I'm thinking about red-green-refactor development in real life. Bear with me. You first think about what you want to do, and you write down tests/beliefs that currently don't hold (red - stop). Then - most importantly - you move inch by inch to flip those colors to passing green. One test at a time. Finally, when everything is green, you do intellectual hygiene and rewire everything so it looks nice, understandable, and maintainable with the least amount of energy moving forward. If that's not a personal change recipe, call me Shirley, grease me up, and take me to the back alley. (Actually, can we do that anyway?)
