I played Star Control quite late - some open source port actually - but even when my understanding of English and the story was abysmal, I was fascinated by the intertwined stories, and how the game actually had morals that pushed them to their resolution, they just don't bother telling you who/what or why. The absence of hand-holding and the overarching story seeded across the universe really appealed to me (though sometimes through caricatures of the characters). Recently I found that they had a shoutout section in the manual, for sci-fi/fantasy authors that inspired them. I should update my kindle library.... (I really like this creator, he posts lot of factorio, but sometimes gems like this)

Looking out in the garden, finishing a glass of wine, the lights of the LED strip I'd decorated the playhouse with twinkle in the dark through the light summer rain. Reminds me of looking out the window at the lone light at the ferry crossing during the thunderstorm just a week or two back. Also makes me think about how it would feel to be told the key to my chastity is in the house, mere twenty meters away, and I could go get it - but only on all fours, with only a collar to hide me. ...well, I wouldn't say hide, more like mark as the happiest puppy in town, but you get the gist ...maybe most satisfied would be a better fit ...definitely trying to be most satisfyable (and satisfywilling), but there we're getting sidetracked. #OnceUponInDream

Seriously looking to remake this in my native language and pin it in small form somewhere. Not sure where - I'm long past wearing bags with lots of pins, and the kids are hopefully getting more and more into reading, so there's danger in that. Also "kinkier" is quite tricky to translate...
